Just gotta say thank you for your reply to that post about complex labels overlapping with lesbianism. As a label ambiguous sapphic who had referred to myself as a bisexual lesbian at a point I've been told by a "gold star" lesbian that "people like me are the reason men think they can convert lesbians", and while it doesn't take a genius to understand why this is a horrible thing to say, you broke down this phenomenon better than I ever could.
This is unfortunately like my 35th rodeo at this point, and got me soooo much flak like 5 years ago, but I'm tired of these cyclical conversations. I grew up in a time where they told cis girls to be scared of playing sports because (cis) lesbians were gonna either molest them or force innocent straight girls to be gay. Like we can wrap this up in language of protection all we want, somehow, it's just marginalized people getting hounded over and over for the entitlement bestowed on cishet men.
"men are wearing skirts to prey on women" they don't need to do that at all actually, there is little reason to go through the trouble. "men are pretending to be women to go into the bathroom to prey on women" yeah, again, blatant transphobia aside, they don't NEED to do that. "bi women can't be trusted cause they like men" why are you saving your heat for women and not the shitty men you think they are chummy with?
So when people use these same tools, this same rhetoric about trans lesbians, nonbinary lesbians, multigender lesbians, intersex lesbians, ace lesbians...like I just do not fall for it anymore.
It's just the most rigid identity cop shit posed as protection and it's the same thing over and over. Cishet people do it. cis radfems do it. Trans radfems do it.
We can't go after systems or predatory actions so we just spin the roulette wheel and decide who is the Secret Male Predator of the day and then hunt them to extinction. It's tired. It's dangerous.
And are we ever actually talking about queer people doing predatory shit or are we transporting a thing our oppressors did to us onto an assumption about someone just trying to exist in queer spaces?
We do this charade over and over and then when a queer person actually does abuse someone then the same people trying to tighten the borders tend to make excuses for why their identity precludes them from predation and the person coming forward is a liar.
I understand the deep traumas from misogynistic society and the violence cishet men protected by the system inflict, but we are not coping at all or forming coherent theory, we are just looking for sacrificial lambs because we think the people who hurt us are untouchable.
Could we all become transfeminists one day?
