Absolutely the den den mushi. I would love to have a little communication snail that I could play dress up with and keep well fed and watered, they're soooooo cute.
In saying that, I think I'd also take fishfolk. I adore fishfolk in one piece, and having them as a part of our society and living amongst us, culture sharing and introducing husbandry techniques with plant, sea, and creature life in our ocean would just be amazing. I'm a sucker for water-dwelling folk, and it would mean the potential of my OC existing just that little bit more.
I'd also say 'sea beasts', but as an Australian, we've already got most of those here already.
