I would LOVE for it to be minotaurs, lmao, although I don’t think we’re there yet – I think that I’d like to see some more big exploration of gods and angels with a bigger sense of that primordial and supernatural Bigness and Greatness and Expansiveness.
I liked A Dark Song from a few years back and really enjoyed The Surrender as another piece of gnostic horror, and off the back of the new Hades game – and maybe in response to the new Odyssey movie, although God knows I won’t actually be watching it – I’d like to see some more play in the next few years with gods and angels and demons, not on a physical level of the wings or horns or whatever, but more the sense of Destiny and Chosen and Inescapable Outside Forces Acting On You…
And the subsequent transformation and psychological force and internal and external conflict that comes with all of that, especially a creature transforming through and from fucking you, and that modifies you by its mere gaze on you, let alone its physical acts on you.
I like that sort of thing with plants a lot – I definitely think you can work with plants and atmospheres with a realistic anxious response to global warming – but I think it’s even more fun when you engage with the supernatural and extraterrestrial, especially when you add in the potential threat and meaning of stuff like divinity and destiny.
