▸▸ I ASKED FOR THIS. ( @firstfulcrum )
Roughly how many Knights and Masters had turned him down now? It was a pointless question to ask, Obi-Wan had noted each and every one as a mark of shame. He knew they by name, had checked them off. How long had he spent calculating how many Jedi were without a padawan, and how many seemed interested in acquiring one.
He had tested out across the board. On the face of it, there was nothing wrong with him but the problem was rooted deep within. All Jedi were warned, some had seen it in action. The wild eyes, the snarl, the frantic rise and fall of his chest. The battle cry like some animal unchained. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s greatest downfall was his own rage, and his inability to tame it. And so Jedi after Jedi passed him by, the eternal flame of hope within him battled against attempt after attempt to put it out. With each day the clock ticking closer to his thirteenth birthday, to when he would be cast aside and placed under a Corps.
When Master Ahsoka had arrived, he had settled into his usual routine of trying to impress. Of making sure he caught her eye in practice duels, of making sure he performed well in tests. He was a showman, in many ways, even in his young age. So when he had caught sight of his potential future Master walking down a long corridor, he almost ran to catch up with her.
❛ Master Ahsoka - if you don’t mind my asking - is there anything I can do for you? My classes ended for the day some time ago and I would much rather do something productive than play with my peers, ❜ desperation leeching into his tone, almost stumbling over the words. What youngling would rather work than play? Not even Obi-Wan, but he certainly wanted to become a Jedi one day. Even if it meant sacrificing free-time. ❛ I know you must have lots of work to do, and I would love to help. ❜
