Jet is a gemstone that does not get much attention and is not a stone one would traditionally consider a gemstone. It is what is known as a Lignite which is naturally compressed peat. It is combustible and has a high carbon content. Jet has transformed into its current form, after being in high pressure conditions. My favorite part is the heft or weight. Because it is wood based, it is very light! Jet protects one during the pursuit of business, and stabilizes ones finances. It is also a good root chakra stone for grounding to the earth.
