No Wonder Why I Haven't Seen A 5'9 280# Track Star
Well, I can proudly report that all the positive thinking in the world didn't turn me into a runner overnight.
Last night, on a whim, I decided to take a drive by my old middle school track -- the place where all of my apprehension about running began -- to take a bit of a fitness test. I wanted to see how long I could run without stopping. I ran a quarter mile in 2:04, felt like I was going to cough up a lung and stopped.
The funny thing is that halfway through my first lap I felt great. Then, somehow, as I'm coming around the last turn, I started to lose it. I was breathing super heavily through my mouth and I could tell the ship was taking on water.
Oh well, at least I have a starting point. I think I'm going to time my mile now, even if I have to walk half or more of it, so that I can have that day one comparison.
