Although I agree that the law as applied is different from the books, I still maintain my faith in the system. Call me naïve, but, I believe that we are more than red tape and corruption. I had the chance to talk to THE big honcho of this firm I admired, and I was dumbfounded by how jaded he sounded. I can never forget the audacity to brag about getting a TRO immediately after a FAN. He continued on by saying, oh, we found ways to skirt around her* that we don't have any trouble with our practice. Wow...just, wow! And i mean that with all the incredulity that I can muster. This made me think, the Lord must have thought I would be impressionable that He guided me to SLB. I am grateful that in my 6 years in practice, I have never ever thought of influence peddling and extralegal methods in getting what I want. Ours is a culture of integrity, and pure hard work. It may take a while, but, seriously, we can look anyone in the eye and say, everything about us is above board. Thank you for the blessing that is SLB.
I work in a law firm, but they can only afford to pay me in produce... Just kidding. Somehow the universe came together today and my job/intern life has been set for the next year with three exciting adventures ahead!
For the Spring semester I've been offered an externship with the US Attorney's Office- Civil Division
Summer, I've been offered a Summer Associate position in lovely La Jolla for GREAT pay (probably selling my soul, but oh well)
and next Fall I get to extern for the Office of the Attorney General Civil Division!
now I just have to survive 2heLL year.... ok back to reading until my eyes can't stay open ;p
