So minor geek spiral is gonna happen so warning first**
Firefly the show came out when I was in high school which I am sure dates me. I am sad that the show got cancelled partway through the season but HELL YES to all those fans out there who made their voices heard. I was watching a couple episodes the other day with my sister- I know it by heart (minus the Chinese) but even now there is a joy this show still brings.
I was a daddy’s girl, grew up around cars so Kailee was so relatable to me. The way she talked I got it. The jokes in shindig were so funny- when she’s joking with the guys at the party about the engines and badging. It still makes me laugh. Seeing the good side of bad people and bad side of good people is what I liked about the show. It made the show more rounded. Even the deal with Jayne and the apples- it seems so … well you know.
If you like or know this show you know this feeling. Even through its set in the future and on a spaceship there is something very relatable very familiar about their relationship with each other. Husbands and wives, veterans, blue collar workers, criminals, the mentally ill, doctors, pastors, even (well I don’t know what to call Inara) state official? 😘I feel like I tend to like shows where the characters learn from each other. This is one.
Now when we watched the show in high school did I know I was going to be into it like I was? No. I mean I have teeshirts, a hoodie, the board game, hard cover books, comic books, all kinds of stuff. I even do the art like these two pieces that I did. I am glad they all went on to other cool things. I wish many good and happy things for these actors and actress’ and their families. Are other Firefly/ Serenity fans like this? I have a ‘Night Sweetie’ Saffron pin on one of my jackets and someone asked me about it. Is it hard to explain without being long winded? 🤣🤣 Do you get side eye from your relatives? Can we start a podcast?? 😂
