I went back to their LinkedIn because I needed a clean screenshot of their original post about using AI to stop doing "awkward photo shoots" and went, "Wait. They were calling themselves a tech start up when I was here last time."
So, let's hear it for the Wayback Machine once again making it easier to side-eye how Hobbii used to refer to itself and how Hobbii NOW refers to itself after customers lit into the staff about their attempt to justify using generative AI to create product photos.
Like, I'm sure they have a line from marketing about how this has been a change a long time coming and they just happened to change the definition of their company RIGHT AFTER getting dick kicked. It's all a magical coincidence.

This week’s fill-in project is done - that’s a fiber arts thing that I can pick up & work on for 5-10 minutes at a time as a kind of palate cleanser when I have a larger work on my needles or hook. It was worked from a free pattern on the Hobbii website, called “Filled Chocolates,” designed by Haekellobby. On Monday I folded the origami masu box, lid, and divider. I crocheted the “truffles,” one a day for the following 4 days, finishing today. As for that larger work? It, too, is complete, and once I get it blocked, I’ll take pictures and bore you all to death with the story behind “The Most Expensive Thing I’ve Ever Made & I’m So Glad I Love It.”

Sometimes, I wonder, if my job is the reason I become so obsessed with needing to make tangible things. So much of my job involves spreadsheets and PDFs that sometimes I don’t really feel like I’ve done much of anything at the end of the day. Knitting helps me feel like I’m making progress in something because I can see there are more pattern repeats than there were last week.
I am really loving the color combo I selected for this sweater. I’m using two colors of hobbii winter glow that just have such a nice contrast. Cannot wait to be able to wear this. Sleeves are always the hard part for me. Maybe my next project should be a sweater vest.
