Firefighter!Simon Riley x Reader - Locked Out Pt. 2
Johnny drags you inside the station, ignoring the confused looks he gets from the other men inside. He walks you over to the oldest of them, a man with a beard sporting a hat, and introduces you.Â
âThis is oor captain, Price,â Johnny says, his arm still over your shoulder. âCap, bonnie âere lost their keys doon thâ drain. Can we giâ them a hand?â
âIâm sure Gary could get to them,â Price says, offering a warm smile and his hand to shake, which you do. âYou rest here mux.â He turned to the couch where a man with dark, curly hair sat. âKyle, keep our guest company, weâll be back.â He pats Johnny on the shoulder and the two leave to find Gary and retrieve your keys.Â
Kyle stands from the couch and walks over. Heâs handsome, pretty you think. He definitely knows it too as he catches you staring, giving you a smile. âHungry?â he asks.
Simon emerged from the showers, wearing only a pair of sweatpants, his damp towel slung over his broad shoulders as his blond hair was still dripping wet. The station house was quiet. Johnny must still be out walking Riley.Â
A quiet laugh broke that silence though. One that made his stony heart skip a beat. Simon made his way towards the common area, finding the one thing he never expected. You.Â
Kyle was sitting with one arm on the couch behind you, the other on his leg. You hadnât noticed Simon yet, too engrossed in Kyleâs story about the time Riley climbed into the open window of a cop car to get into a bag of treats the officer had hidden under his seat.
âSo Riley was hanging halfway out this copâs car, anâ Johnnyâs trying to get him out before the cop gets back,â Kyle said. âTurns out, the cop had a bag of treats in the car. Found out when Simon called Riley over. Rascal had the bag hanging out his mouth.âÂ
The sound of your laugh makes Simonâs heart race and he finds himself jealous of the way your fingers gently scratched behind Rileyâs ear as the dogâs head lays in your lap.Â
Simon canât help but stare. Heâd always known how pretty you were, but seeing you here in the station.. He only wished he was the one you were sitting with. That he was the one making you laugh so easily.Â
âBonnie! We got yer keys!â Johnny calls, coming up behind Simon.Â
Your head whips around, catching a glimpse of Simon as he turns on his heels and retreats deeper into the station.Â
In his room, Simonâs heart pounds in his chest. He runs a large hand through his blond hair, his mind racing. All heâd wanted these past few months was to know you better, though heâd never been able to bring himself to speak more than a few words to you. Never had he thought heâd see you in the firehouse, much less cozied up on their couch. What were you even doing here?Â
A knock on his door brought his answer. Simon quickly pulled on his privacy mask, some part of him hoping it was you. Instead he saw Johnny.Â
âAye, Si, did ye see we git a guest?â Johnny asked with that cheeky grin of his. Ah. That was it. Johnny brought you here.Â
âI saw..â Simon said, keeping his voice measured despite his urge to to tear Johnny in half for getting up the nerve to talk to you before he could.Â
âYe never told me thaâ wee thing wis so cuit,â Johnny pressed. âSâalready git Kyle wrapped âround their wee finger.â
Simonâs dark eyes sharpened. Johnny always knew just how to get under his thick skin.Â
âAm sure theyâd lek tâ see ye,â Johnny continued. âLooked a might fash when ye stormed off.â
âDidnât âave mâ mask,â Simon muttered. âWasnât expecting them..â
âAye, ha tâ git Gary tâ rescue their keys,â Johnny explained. His blue eyes briefly looked Simon up and down. âYâshould say âello. Am sure theyâd lek tâ see ye.â
Johnny was dense but he wasnât stupid. He knew Simon could get anyone he wanted, he had the looks to make just about anyone, including Johnny himself, melt. If only Simon had the confidence to actually talk to anyone.Â
When Simon didnât budge, Johnny decided to push further. âAye wis thinkân, LT,â he started. âI might ask âem oot fer coffee.â Johnny shrugged as he watched Simon tense.Â
Simon shoved past Johnny, making his way to the common area again. Leaving Johnny grinning at his door.
Simonâs gruff voice startles you. You hadnât seen him enter the room, much less hear him walk up behind where you were sitting on the couch.Â
You blink those pretty eyes up at him. âWhat?â
âWith me.â He doesnât seem to be asking by his tone, but his eyes are almost pleading.Â
âUh.. sure,â you say, unable to keep the smile from your lips.Â
The tension in Simonâs shoulders melted away. If he had a tail, it would be wagging.
