Fire Proofed
“The sinners in Jerusalem shake with fear. Terror seizes the godless. “Who can live with this devouring fire?” they cry. “Who can survive this all-consuming fire?” Those who are honest and fair, who refuse to profit by fraud, who stay far away from bribes, who refuse to listen to those who plot murder, who shut their eyes to all enticement to do wrong—” Isaiah 33:14-15NLT
During the election fiasco of 2020, Papa God brought me back repeatedly to Isaiah 33. He spoke repeatedly to me from the verses. There seemed to be a tone of ‘enough is enough’ in God’s Spirit speaking to me, as I read those words repeatedly. I highlighted the text scripture and wrote my thoughts in the margin. Unless a person lives under a rock— or listens totally to news media and no truth sources— there’s an awareness— we were lied to, cheated. The 2020 election was clearly thievery, and bribery and a silent takeover of the US government, well thought out and planned. Multiplied hundreds of millions were paid out to judges, voting precinct workers, and others to turn their heads, or commit voter fraud.
Don’t be naive and think this will be left to slide. All these people will face the “all-consuming fire?” We watched news during 2020 of the fires consuming California, Oregon, and Australia and California again in 2021. Fire is non-discriminatory eating everything in its path without regard to wealth or poverty.
‘Fire’ can also indicate harsh difficulties, failures, not just actual flame burning. No one is impervious to attacks or troubles, both come in abundance— some really harsh circumstances. The difference being God’s children and the world— we are not consumed. Pain and difficulty can only go so far, His promises makes us fire proofed. Isaiah 33:16NLT “these are the ones who will dwell on high. The rocks of the mountains will be their fortress. Food will be supplied to them, and they will have water in abundance.” Centered in Christ the problems can’t burn through to us.
Let me say it differently— “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.” Psalms 23:4-5NASB. Fire comes, but we’ve been fire proofed. Our protection is greater than the fire. Things haven’t changed since we entered 2021. Facts are— as I’ve watched our freedoms have been eroded by the ever encroaching government. At the same time God has been there to meet me at every deadline. Such are the promises Lou and I have walking in. Sometimes this faith walk feels intense, as I imagine the ice road truckers feel crossing a lake as spring starts to set in. Yet that’s my control issues making the intensity.
If you’re not experiencing protection, go back and check yourself against our text verses. Are you believing or receiving a lie? Have you turned your back on the truth? Is there an area of accepting darkness in your heart and mind? Tweak your life against the compass of God’s Word. We must continually ask Him to reveal the hard truths in our individual lives. It’s your choice. You choose.
LET’S PRAY: Lord God thank You for taking care of Your children. When we see what’s been familiar and comfortable burned up around us, knees have a tendency to knock. Help us to rest fearless during the fire, in Jesus’ name I pray.
