Physical Description:Ā Ethnically ambiguous/white. Brown hair in soft waves, falling to just above her natural waistline. Tanned skin, slight freckles, brown to hazel eyes. Slender. A lot of scarring, more as the book progresses. At the start, she has burns and small cuts over her collarbones and chest, a few small circular scars on her face, small enough to be mistaken for spots until youāre up close. Several cuts on the back of her legs, mostly lower down, bad burns on the soles of her feet - she was unable to walk for a long while, and after recovering still finds it painful to stand for long periods of time. Fortunately, itās summer, so she can wear breathable shoes; she likes jelly sandals because theyāre fairly open and also hers have glitter in them. She wears loose, collared shirts and long skirts when she can because they hide more of her scars but donāt hurt much as theyāre loose and light. Sheās pretty short, a solid 5ā2.5.
Personality:Ā Sheās trying to work that out herself, given that she canāt remember who she was before. Sheās very open; she doesnāt quite realise at first that thatās not always a good idea. Sheās as kind as she can be, but too readily trusting, and wonāt give up that trust easily. Especially for relationships she formed early on in her rehabilitation(?) - ie Audrey, Liv and Theo. She gets very upset when either of them dislikes another, even though theyāve never liked each other. She tries her best to be equally kind to everyone but sometimes sheās so exhausted she snaps and gets apparently angry - when really she just wants to go to sleep.
Occupation:Ā Student.
Habits/Mannerisms:Ā She moisturises every day, morning and night, to reduce the effect of her burns and scarring. She applies suncream every morning without fail to avoid sunburn. She showers at night and drinks a pint of water before bed. She listens to the radio to fall asleep. She turns her phone off - off off - at 9PM every night to avoid never going to sleep. She wears eyeliner but no other makeup. She stretches every morning to help mobility. She bites her lip when sheās anxious and paints her nails to avoid picking or biting them. Later, after finding Aletheiaās arykna, she wears the necklace under her shirt at all times, and occasionally rubs it between her fingers, as a sort of grounding thing.
Background: Unknown, kind of. She woke up in hospital on the day the book starts, with no memories of her past. Over the next two weeks she spent in hospital, she was given photographs from friends and family and told many stories in the hope of sparking some recollection. She can now recount stories from before but remember them? Not so much. All she knows is that before she woke up, she was carried in by local superhero, Apollo, who now is trying to hunt her down to stop her finding out what happened.

Goal:Ā Keep Pippa safe - for now, that means ignorant
Physical Description:Ā White British/French (dual nationality). He has fairly pale skin with freckles and a roundish, squarish, friendly face. He has heterochromia and super long lashes, which Pippa finds really pretty. He has a kind of flat nose and bouncy, curly brown hair, which looks gold in certain lights. He always carries a white stick with him, and wears the most comfortable clothes he can find - soft shorts and loose shirts. Heās fairly tall - 6ā0 - and jacked because of the stuff he does as NapkirĆ”ly. He always wears a golden bracelet with a harp charm on it; he says his first girlfriend bought it for him, but people donāt usually believe that.
Personality:Ā A bit flirty but doesnāt really mean it, certainly not most of the time. He tries to stay cheerful, but struggles when in a situation where he might inadvertently reveal that heās NapkirĆ”ly, which can cause people to see him as mean, if thatās the first time they meet him. Fiercely protective of his siblings, notably protective of his friends. However, heās fairly laid back and doesnāt worry about them unless somethingās going very wrong. Jus there for a laff.
Occupation:Ā Student, āsuperheroā
Habits/Mannerisms:Ā He has extremely expressive eyebrows and raises them a lot. He winks at people a lot, but canāt quite wink, so manages to do a half-wink where one eye is mostly closed and the other is about half open at best. This makes Pippa giggle, so he does it all the more. He doesnāt make eye contact but as he has light perception, will look in the right direction. He showers in the morning if he gets up early enough, but would rather shower at night and have a lie in if he's tired. Heās very tactile and will touch everything he can in shops, or run his fingers along benches, lampposts, walls etc. He likes to smell flowers and pet animals (especially cats) so insists that people point them out if he doesnāt notice them. Heās really bad at lying and will freeze then scratch his nose if heās about to tell a lie.
Background: He had a pretty decent home life until Apollo came along - in all fairness, he still does, but itās complicated now. His little brother, Tyler, was a victim of Apollo, and ended up in with life threatening injuries when Sancus got involved. Theo was nearby and when he found his brother, unconscious, tried to take Sancus out then and there. Fortunately, the hospital saved Tylerās life, but Tyler ended up with no movement in his right arm. Sancus later sought Theo out to apologise, and told him more about Apollo. They offered for Theo to become a saritos and find Apollo so they could make him pay. Theo would have refused, but by then another child had been injured and he decided that Sancus needed someone to make sure they didnāt hurt anymore possessed kids.
Aitof didnāt allow him to transform the first four times he attempted it, but he still didnāt give up. He was named NapkirĆ”ly, meaning King of the Sun, because he has a particular strength with light control, somewhat ironically. His light perception means that even though he canāt really see, using it to blind othersā¦ doesnāt really help, as it messes with his (very limited) sight as well.
His mum and dad are still together, although he worried that the stress when Tyler was in hospital was going to split them up. A few years later, he flunked his first year of A Levels and had to drop down a year to try different subjects, although he was allowed to retake maths. His mum was upset but his dad felt like heād taken the wrong subjects in the first place. Heās much happier now and Tyler says that itās easier living at home now that Theo isnāt stressed all the time. His mum and dad both work full time jobs, so he gets Liv to drop him off outside Tylerās school and they walk home together.

1. Who do you love most in the world?
My mum, I guess, although I donāt talk to her much anymore. Maybe Pippa - I certainly spend most time with her. I like her a lot.
2. Fight or Flight?
Ha, trick question - both. Fighting while flying. Literally flying, that is. Um, but in the spirit of the questionā¦ Iām not averse to fighting when needed but Iād prefer to avoid it when unnecessary, so flight, I guess.
3. AnyĀ specialĀ abilities that not a lot of peopleĀ know about?
Well thatād be telling, wouldnāt it? Is extensive knowledge of Greek Lit a special ability? What about acting? Flying and weather manipulation? Oh, Iāve said too much [laughs]
4. FavoriteĀ dessert?
Some sort of Eton mess derivative, but I prefer fruit to berries. Maybe mango, kiwi and nectarine?
5. Whoās your best friend?
Pippa. I have a group at school, but Iām not sure they actually like me, and they wouldnāt if they knew me, instead of Audrey, you know? Then again, Iām not sure Pippa actually likes me either. She does a better job of pretending, though.
6. Are you super active orĀ prefer to stay inside?
Depends how anxious I am. When I get stressed I need to be moving and outside has a lot more space for moving. The fresh air helps clear my head as well. But Iām perfectly content to work inside.
7. Do you have any siblings?
God, so many. Iām the youngest of sixā¦ yeah. The oldest three are my half siblings, though. I donāt know their dad but I think Robinās trying to get in touch with him and his husband. They say heās got three adopted daughters now, but heās not related to me so theyāre not my sisters. [laughs] I guess Robin has eight younger siblings then. Thatāsā¦ [laughs].
[So who are your other siblings?]
Robinās the oldest - theyāre a nurse. Then Layla, sheās just gone back to work I think, after maternity leave. Her daughter is adorable, I love her. Then Daneā¦ heās, um, more of a mess than me? Heās at home still, but heās 27. They all have the same dad, Jamie, I think heās called. The one with the adopted daughters?
Then my dad has me, Ollie and Cat. Catās got an intern at the BBC, sheās a journalist. Ollieās doing a PhD in classic lit.Ā
8. Favourite thing to do in your free time?
I love researching things. When I lived in Scotland still, it was classics - mostly Greek, to be fair - but when we moved down here I wanted to know more about the saritos.

Oh, thatās the proper term for the heroes. You know, Aletheia, NapirĆ”ly?Ā
[And Sancus?]
Yeah, thoughā¦ Iāve not quite sorted it out yet but thereās something up about them. Something special, maybe. Different to the rest.
9. Whatās a secret that youāve never told anybody before?Ā
Well, if I tell you, itās not a secret anymore, is it? [laughs] No, Iām kidding. How aboutā¦ I was actually really upset when Ollie told us about his PhD because classic lit was kind of my thing, you know? Like, I know itās silly butā¦ yeah.
10. How have youĀ changed since you were a child?
Oh Iāmā¦ completely different. At school, at least. We moved down from Scotland at the start of my year nine - I wasnāt exactly popular before. Well, people didnāt dislike me, I donāt think, but they didnāt like me much. I was too weird, I guess. Spoke too much about literature and not enough about, well, anything else. [laughs] So I figured Iād change something up in the new school. A girl called Lara ended up showing me around and I worked out how to get in with her group and now I have lots of friends and lots of people donāt like me. Itās a choice, I guess.
[Do you prefer it?]
Not really. Well, kind of. Itās less lonely but also really lonely, you know. And then this summer I met Pippa andā¦ sheās so lovely, but her friends hate me. I guess weāll see where that goes.
11. Whatās one of your petĀ peeves?
When people make a mess or put things back in the wrong place. God, it makes meā¦ itchy. Gah, I hate it.
12. Whatās your biggest dream?
I guess I want to do what Ollieās doing, but even more, maybe. Like, imagine being the top expert on Ancient Greek Lit, wouldnāt that be cool? And Iād live in an old house, with three cats and a wife and Iād work at the university and sheādā¦ I donāt know. Sheād be super clever but in a different field completely. And weād maybe have one kid, maximum. It would be kind of rural but with enough people to still have friends andā¦ [laughs] Is that what you meant? Iām going straight into full fantasy mode [laughs]. Sorry.
