3 months later ~ Early August
A few weeks later
Maya brought Theo to visit Raylee’s grave. He hadn’t gone to the funeral, he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t see the tears and the pain on her father’s faces. He couldn’t bring himself out of bed. He felt like vomiting whenever he remembered what happened. It was sickening. He didn’t shave, but his mother cut his hair. He didn’t feel like doing much of anything. All he could think about was her. All he could think about was that she was only seventeen.

In an attempt to keep herself as healthy as possible, Cassie found herself taking many early morning walks. She loved feeling the warm August sun on her skin, and seeing the sights of the city before everything exploded with excitement and bustle.
On her way downtown, she noticed a poster she hadn’t seen before. She stopped for a moment to examine it.
Cassie: “Local band, BrindletonBabes, looking for fifth member, keyboard experience needed. Please contact Rasha Nahir at 867-5309 for more information....”
Cassie took the poster down and quickly dialed the number on the flyer. She had a plan, and when Cassie had a plan there was no way to stop her.
Her name was in the obituary section of the newspaper the next morning.
It was then that the gravity of what had happened really hit Theo. She was really gone. His girlfriend, his first love, his first kiss, his first everything.
He blamed himself. He blamed himself because he knew he couldn’t ever blame her.
He continued to play. His fingers becoming heavier and heavier as they pressed each key with such care. He played until he heard Rasha’s voice over the music.
Rasha: “That’s quite enough.”
He stopped suddenly, his fingers pressing down harshly on the keys.
Theo: “S-sorry, was it bad?”
Rasha: “Not at all. You’re in, Theo.”
