You were on one of Erebor's balconies again. You made your way here often, especially in the evenings. The stars here were unusually bright, you found it really amusing as you never saw them shining so much. Maybe it was just your imagination, but it was still an incredible sight. One of the many reasons you came here was to clear out your mind before going to sleep. It was a nice way to calm down before sleeping, just looking at the stars, wondering how many unheard stories were behind them...
But the main reason was him. Fili, the heir to the throne, Thorin's nephew and your friend. Even tho you didn't really want to be just friends. Not anymore. Not ever since the journey to reclaim their, and now too yours homeland, where you, Fili and Kili grew closer, considering both of them your best friends. That was until you began to fall in love with the blonde prince. He was everything you could ever wish for. Attractive, charming, funny, caring... It was almost impossible for you to describe everything you loved him about him.
Unfortunately, Kili noticed your change of behavior towards his brother and the never ending teasing began. You always managed to somehow ignore him, glad that Fili didn't seem to notice why was Kili teasing you. Of course you wished to be with him, but it didn't seem to be proper to confess during the journey. And after reclaiming the mountain, Thorin's dragon sickness and the Battle of the Five Armies, the rebuilding of Erebor began, which meant Fili was very busy with his prince duties.
"Lost in thoughts again?" You flinched a little and turned around, seeing Fili leaning against the wall
"Yeah, sorry... How long have you been standing there?" You mumbled
"Long enough to know that you weren't paying attention at all, Y/n. What if I was about to kidnap you?" He chuckled
"Well, good thing that you weren't about to do it, right?" You giggled as he walked up closer to you, now standing few inches away from you
"I missed you, Y/n... " he mumbled
"We saw each other yesterday, didn't we?" You were a little confused, he never acted like this....
"Not like that... I miss your presence, your laugh and smile, the calming aura you give off that always makes me feel at peace everytime you're not around me... I don't wanna miss you Y/n, I want you to always be with me. I know I may sound selfish, but I've been keeping this away from you for too long and I don't think I could do it any longer. I want to lay in bed with you every night, knowing that when I wake up you'll still be there. I want to spend the rest of my life with you... " he was whispering at the end, scared that you might reject him. Dwarves only love once in their life, and he knew you were his One. He felt the pull the first time he saw you...
"Would it be selfish from me to wish the same...? I too was keeping it from you for a very long time...." he let out the breath he didn't even realize he was holding. You felt the same...
"May I braid your hair now?" you could see the excitement in his eyes, making him look even more adorable at the moment
"Of course..." You gigled and tilted your head to the side
He took a strand of your hair and slowly ran his finger through it, admiring how silky and untangled your hair was. He split it in tree smaller ones and started braiding your hair. He was gentle, tried not to pull much so it wouldn't hurt. And even if it did, you wouldn't mind. It was a courting braid after all, to show everyone around that you were his and his only... He was soon done, so he clipped the bead at the end to secure it.
"Thank you, it looks amazing." you smiled, turned around and looked up to sky
"The stars made it even more romantic, don't you think?" he asked, hugging you from behind
"They did...." you pressed your back against his chest, enjoying the warm his body gave you and thinking about how lucky you are to be his, and him being yours...
The Hobbit- Fili x Reader: Flower Blooming in Fallen Leaves
Warnings - a gross orc corpse, fighting, swords, battle
You paused to draw your sword from the orc corpse that lay on the ground before you. Its eyes stared lifeless while its face was twisted in one last defiant look. There wasn’t much room for pity when it came to such evil creatures that sought to harm your loved ones, though for some reason, the act of taking its life left you feeling somewhat dazed.
The sounds of war filled your ears. Each fallen soldier on your side was a bludgeon to your heart. You kept an eye out for your comrades, members of the Company that you had traveled with for so many months. Each time you caught sight of one alive, it filled you with relief for a moment. You were not a full-fledged warrior. You had only been taken under the Company’s wing for simple instruction of how to use the sword you’d found. It had been useful to injure enemies at different points of the journey, but never had you seen a battle such as this one. Elves and dwarves that had geared up to fight each other had formed a temporary allegiance to battle the oncoming orcs that took them by surprise.
A pair of eyes caught your attention as an orc charged at you, snarling through its pointed fangs. You lifted the sword and blocked the oncoming attack, quickly snapping out of your daze, and slid the sword downward to impale the creature. It growled and fell to the ground, writhing, and you turned to face another presence that entered your vicinity.
“_________!” called a familiar voice that made your heart race- or at least, it would’ve made your heart race if it weren’t already pounding faster than horse hooves from the heated battle.
“Fili!” you gasped, lowering your sword. He nearly dropped his as he hurriedly approached. As he rushed into your space, you could almost forget about the battle around you. All you saw was his blue eyes staring back at you. All you heard was his heavy breathing. All you felt was his hand as it found the back of your neck.
The initial relief in his tone at finding you in the midst of this mess was replaced with furrowed brows and a desperate question. “What are you doing out here? You shouldn’t be in the middle of this!”
He had been adamant about keeping you out of harm’s way. Though he insisted it was because of your inexperience on the battlefield, you wondered if deep down there was another reason to his protectiveness. There was little he could do to prevent you from facing the same dangers as the rest of the Company, but he had told you back when he saw a possible battle with the Mirkwood elves for Erebor’s jewels that he wanted you to have no part in it.
Which was why you had left Erebor and gone with Bilbo to the elf side of the field. You hated the idea of being hidden away in the mountain while your Company picked a fight needlessly.
“I had to do something!” you told the prince. “Thorin was not well. I had to do something for the Company. For you.”
“_________,” he said, though he spoke above the noise of the battle, there was a tenderness in his gaze as his fingers moved from the back of your neck to brush your face. He wiped a tear that you didn’t realize had slipped down your cheek. “Don’t you realize what you’ve done for me already?”
“I can’t imagine-”
“You’re my best friend,” he blurted. “You mean so much to me, and...and I can’t lose you.”
You leaned in to press your forehead to his briefly. He pulled away quickly, pushing you out of the way of an incoming orc blade. His sword met it just in time, and he grunted as he out-maneuvered it and managed to stab the orc.
“Please stay by my side,” Fili pleaded.
You looked into his blue eyes and nodded. “Of course.”
And you did.
The two of you were inseparable. That was, up until Fili was informed that members of the Company were going after Azog himself. Fili’s hand found yours, and he refused to let go even as he was being ushered away. He pulled you in one more time, this time to capture your lips in a brief kiss that warmed you like starlight. His fingers lost their grip on you as he walked away. He looked at you over his shoulder, calling your name. “_________! Maralmizi! I love you!”
You raised a hand and called after him, “I love you too!”
As you watched him go, you felt a twinge in your chest. His eyes left yours for the last time, and you suddenly felt desperate to see them again. It was a bad feeling, to say the least. Something that settled in your stomach and made you uneasy.
“No,” you said aloud, though he was much too far to hear. “I’m not letting you leave.”
So you resolved to follow and protect him from whatever danger loomed ahead.

A/N: I had fun with this one, hope you enjoy it :)
"Do it, do it!" the dwarves chanted around the fire, as if they were part of some cult. Gandalf chuckled at his perch, leaning back and taking a puff of his pipe. You refused their proposition as soon as it had been set forwards, yet the dwarves were persistent. "You have to! It's in the rules!" Ori yelled over the chanting, gesturing to the parchment he held in his hands. You found it adorable that he had written a whole set of rules for something so trivial.
You let out an exasperated sigh, cheeks tainted red, as you turned your head to look at Fili who was looking thoughtfully over at you, "He is right. You don't want to break the rules do you?" Fili smirked, holding his arms open for you. You narrowed your eyes at him, before inching forwards slightly.
Heat flushed to your cheeks, painting them red, as the dwarves ceased their chanting and watched eagerly as you approached the blonde dwarf. Fili laughed quietly, only so that you could hear, and when you were finally next to his body, he looped one arm under your knees and the other around your back and under your arm. You yelped as he swept you from the log where you had previously sat and placed you on his lap.
As soon as Fili's arm left from your knees, you looped your hands around his neck. Without that support, you probably would've fallen from Fili's lap. You felt utterly embarrassed and found yourself hating whichever dwarf dared you to do this. "I understand why elves don't like dwarves," you grumbled, not entirely meaning it.
Some of the dwarves ignored your comment, and some found it amusing - proven by their hounding laughter spreading around the camp. Fili laughed too, his chest rising and falling at a rapid pace, causing you to tighten your grip on him, pulling you closer to his face.
He stopped laughing once your faces were only a few inches apart. "I believe it's my turn!" he turned his head so he could shout to the dwarves who were now sobering up . . . Well, all except Bofur and Kili who found it hilarious to see you and Fili like this.
"Wait!" you yelled all of a sudden, the dwarves looked at you expectantly. "How long do we have to stay like this?" you asked sheepishly, embarrassed to say the least.
"Until the game is over!" Bofur said smugly, puffing on his pipe. Next to him, Kili looked between Bofur and Fili and you, a grin across his face. Fili shook his head at his brother's antics. Looking over at Thorin, the most serious and brooding of the group, you even saw a slight smile on him. Woah.
You groaned loudly, throwing you head back and willing for the game of truth or dare to be over a soon as possible. You knew however, in the back of your mind, that each of the thirteen dwarves, hobbit and wizard would make your suffering last as long as they could . . . Well, maybe not Bilbo . . .
"Anyway," Fili said loudly, gaining everyone's attention again. He would make a great king, you thought subconsciously. Your eyes widened as you realised what just went through your mind, luckily no one noticed as Fili turned to you to continue the game, "Y/N, truth or dare?"
"Me?" you asked suddenly, not realising it was your turn to be asked a question.
"Of course I'm talking to you!" Fili boomed, laughter once again filling the camp as the dwarves found you amusing.
"Shut up . . . ," you mumbled, "and truth!" you answered Fili who was looking at you expectantly. You made a vow only to choose truth, if the last dare was anything to go by you didn't want to have another one.
"Um, let me see . . . ," Fili muttered to himself, putting his finger of his lip. You bit yours subconsciously as you watched him. Your nerves felt like they were on fire from how close you were to him, and your heart and mind were racing, "When did you have you first kiss?"
Your heart stuttered in your chest as the dwarves looked to you for an answer. How were you supposed to tell the dwarves you had never been kissed before? You bit your lip and spoke, "Um, never," you said, nothing short of a whisper.
"Oh," Fili replied, sounding a little apologetic. When he spoke again, he was more perky, there was something in his tone that you couldn't quite put your finger on, "How come someone as beautiful as you has never been kissed?"
"You only get one question!" you slapped his shoulder playfully.
"Is it my turn now?!" Kili interrupted, sounding hopeful. When Fili nodded at him, he turned to you and said: "Y/N, I dare you to kiss Fili!"
Your eyes widened to the size of saucers, "What?! NO, that's against the rules! You have to ask me truth or dare!" you protested, looking over to Ori who was reading through his list.
"Um, actually, it isn't," he said, handing his list to you. You groaned when you realised that he was right, and wondered how you were going to get out this. Part of you was happy, though, and you quickly shunned it away.
Fili could sense your discomfort as you turned to look at him, so he placed his palms on either side of your face and quickly pecked you on your lips. You gasped as his lips left yours, but he kept his face close to yours; so close, in fact, that your noses were side by side so that they wouldn't get in the way of each other.
Your lips felt strangely tingly, and where his hands had left your face was now a warm, fiery sensation. Without thinking, you leaned forwards by the tiniest amount and placed your soft lips on to his. You felt his beard brush your chin and heard the jingling of the beads on his braids as he moved his lips on yours.
The dwarves went quiet as the pair of you became absorbed in your own world. Soon, you pulled away, regretting nothing. You coughed awkwardly as you looked at the dwarves who didn't expect you to take things that far. Kili was grinning broadly at you two, and Thorin was staring at Fili with an almost blank expression; but you could see as the corner of his mouth twitched, as if he was holding back a smile.
"My turn!" you announced, wishing to get some form of payback, "Fili, truth or dare?" you turned back to him, feeling a whole lot more confident than you did before.
"Truth," he answered confidently. You expected him to say dare, so you were a little disheartened. You racked your brain for ideas until one popped up into your mind.
"What is your most romantic memory?" you asked him.
"Romantic, you say?" he thought for a moment, and you felt a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. He, no doubt, was probably going to tell you of his lover back in the Iron Hills. Why had you chosen to ask him that question? "I'm not sure if you can class it as romantic, but I have to say it was the night you showed me the constellations in the stars," he smiled warmly at you.
Your eyes widened, the company wasn't supposed to know about that! But that wasn't the reason you were shocked. His most romantic memory was of you? Someone who was not his lover? Did he not have someone back home? Did he even consider the Iron Hills his home?
"Awww!" came a voice that you recognised as Ori. He was really adorable, you had to admit.
"Alright, game over!" Bombur shouted, getting up and bounding over to where the soup simmered in a pan gently over the fire, "Grubs up!"
