I don't know how popular it was, but it worked incredibly well for me when it was up and I was heartbroken when it stopped working.
Today I found someone on reddit who kinda got it working again (if ur willing to download it)
I'll put the link to their GitHub here.
Explanation for the unaware:
"Fighter's Block is a writing app that exploitsĀ conditioningĀ to overcome writer's block and sheer laziness. Rewards for writing and punishments for stopping are wrapped in a battle system inspired by turn-based RPGs.
The opponent is a monster that deals continuous damage to the you, while you must keep writing to heal yourself and attack the monster. Hurry, before your HP drops to zero!
Worry about editing later. For now, just get those creative juices flowing, and write."
The layout is so simple, you can change the speed and the severity of the damages dealt and I think there's also a dark mode iirc.
No alternative that I've found ever worked as well for me so if anyone knew and loved it too,,, here it is

You know what computer program you *should* be using to help you write? Fighter's Block
I'm killing a silly egg (my word count) with a magical girl and this whole site is designed to help writers fist fight writer's block and blank page syndrome by committing the visual vibes of the pokemon low hp music. Your hp ticks down every second you're writing so it helps you just get stuff on the page. You can edit it in another tab later.
You can also pause, change the background scenery and how the monster attacks! Assets are limited since it's been a HOT minute since this has received any support or updates... but it's *my* beloved abandoned internet project and I'm choosing to share it
I fucking love this website. I wrote 2k+ words tonight on WKYH because of this website. <3
Itās a game where you set a word count (I almost always go with 1000, 500 if Iām strapped for time or energy) and that word count becomes an enemyās health bar. You write to take down their health, but if you donāt write, they knock down your health. You regain health by writing.
Itās so simple, but incredibly effective at keeping me focused.
I just started using a new website call Fighterās Block (http://cerey.github.io/fighters-block/#) and Iāve been too focused on writing my story now that Iāve mostly forgotten about my tumblr. Itās the best thing Iāve used yet for fighting writerās block.

My whole life has been dependent on my brain for comfort and safety in no matter shape of form. As long as the form didn't betray me. That was my biggest weakness. I became to dependent on it and didn't see the connections to have friends. They were people that would leave and come. A restless cycle that will not stop. But, it made me very loyal. When I did gain friends, very surprising, I would not betray them. And having a partner, is such a total different story. You want to meet up somewhere and just hug for an hour. Hell yes.
Its hard finding people who also agree with that kind of thinking. It is easy to hear people say, but that is either from friends or liars. So, I am happy. I pretend. I like pretending. It's kind of funny to see peoples reactions when they start understanding that I am not as friendly as I act. That I can and will hurt you if you injure my people. My people who I understand and ready to fight for. Who I know will never find out that I could also snap their friendship. I love feeling in control, but someone controlling me is exhilarating. Knowing that they could hurt me and love me at the same time. Understanding that we will never leave each other individually unless we both agree on friends. New relationships that start with me have always ended quickly. Being contained by some I love is always comforting.
Hilariously I have never experienced anything sexual or even romantically in my lifetime. My morals and wants go against each other and never agree on anything. I mean why should they. Morals are only the basics of how society sees in each other and what I believe is right or wrong that has been shaped by society. My wants are based on what first come to mind. Its based on just first instinct and a lot of them are dark not really that happy. I want to scream and yell at ignorant people, but instead I yell at paper with ink. I want to kiss someone. I make fictional wounds. I want to let go of everything. I write a poem and post it online. Everything is online most of these days. I used to write notes to friends, but they didn't like writing back. They would just text normally.
Using pen and paper is easy to use and express myself. Its just that I cannot ever think in the sun. It is way to easy when the moon is up and the clock says 12:04 AM.
Why do humans need time. I mean I get why we have it, but why does it seem to kill us. Animals don't worry about this stuff. They don't need to remind themselves that there is a deadline due and are only mindlessly typing away. The thing about time that separates us from is that when they know its time to die they are okay with it they have done all the can and leave earth peacefully. For humans we regret every single thing about our life. We hate each other and we also have so many limitations. We can't do everything we can. Not when things stop us from doing what we want.
I like hearing about peoples problems. Not so I can say mine are worse, but because I like reimaging what could have happened. Sometimes I get so pissed at others for being so mean or ignorant that I forget to cool down for a few minutes. That it looks like I have blanked out and not listening to you. I do listen though.
I am so confusing. I can be really mean and really nice at the same time. I like surprising people that I can be such a bitch under their gazes. Is this what they call bipolar cause I have no idea. It usually changes after I watch something or read something. Like I notice the change in myself. Or when I am in a specific room. My battery like either drains or somehow recharges like that. I like freaking people out too. I am good at movie make-up, so around times like this, I make fake wounds, bruises, bite marks, etc. The first time I did it at home my mom freaked out until I told her what I did.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I don't want to be confusing. I want people to trust me.
I was just trying out āFighterās Block!ā app/browser-based āgameā to see if I could even do it. Basically, the idea is to keep writing until you reach your goal. You can pause if you need to, but the idea is to just keep going. You character will lose health if you stop typing and will be hit by the monster theyāre fighting.
Sure enough, I did it! I think Iāll keep trying to do this once a day but I think next time Iāll set the goal to 250 words instead of 500. This was very stream-of-consciousness, but Iām sharing it anyway.
This place was not what she had been expecting. It was quiet, but eerily so. Lunaris. Supposedly one of the quieter towns in the country, had apparently had a rash of monster attacks recently. Well, within the last year and a half or so. She hadn't intended to come here. It just... happened. She was traveling, finding what work she could along the way in the outposts that dotted the country.
A witch like her, without the backing of power that came with being in the enforcers, was viewed warily. She was a danger, even if she'd never hurt anyone - except herself. Magic was dangerous especially when it hadn't been "properly trained" in a magic academy. For Freya, it only meant that she could best witches she came in contact with or those that thought they could best her. Not being trained meant that you also were terribly difficult to predict.
She still remembered standing out in a rainstorm as a tween, embracing the wildness of the storm and relishing the feeling of rain on her face. The storm embraced her in return. It nearly killed her, but she had never felt so free. Her parents had kept her on an even tighter leash afterwards, keeping her away from the world. It was her reaching out to the lightning that had freed her soul which set her free through the window she shattered and hopped out of.
A life of a merchant just wasn't for her. Especially if it required that she never use her magic, and that was the price that her parents had put on her. She was the wayward sheep, unlike her elder brother that made them proud. A Hunter, strong and brave. She could have been an Enforcer and they had encouraged her... but she helped the wrong being. She helped a Youngling.
Freya would never never forget the brand. The intense pain that radiated through her chest as they burnt the Enforcer seal into her skin. The acrid smell of that smoke, the scent of burnt flesh. The memory haunted her still, awaiting moments that should have been quiet and peaceful to slither back into the forefront of her mind. All for keeping both the humans in the town and the Youngling safe. It was wrong only because the Enforcers had deemed it so.
But now she could do as she pleased. At least, as long as she wasn't caught. That was always the trouble with it... but Freya had learned a few things. Illusions, magic that no school would have taught you. Or perhaps it was something that was unique to her. Freya just knew that all those she faced that claimed to know more about magic than her couldn't conjure doubles of themselves to confuse her. They couldn't shift the color of their hair or eyes at will; couldn't fill the room with thousands of tiny lights to mimic the night sky. These were all things Freya was happy to keep to herself.
So, I saw the post going around writeblr about Fighterās Block. As a lifelong gamer, the concept really appealed to me. Today Iām giving it a shot!
So far, itās really cute. Iām enjoying it as I work on this new scene. I also enjoy the pause feature, but that comes with mixed feelings.I keep pausing the fight when I donāt actually have to. Iām not leaving my computer or doing anything important. Usually, I just want to switch tabs for a minute or something. In fact, Iām doing that right now.
Weāll see how that habit evolves over time. Right now, Fighterās Block is one for my bookmarks.
