                      There’s  a  huge  fucking  grin  on  that  goofy  face  of  Jackson  Tellers’  a  face  that  could  on  a  GOOD  day  be  misconstrued  as  handsome   —   PRIVATE  EYES  by     Hall  &  Oats     blares  as  he  sits  in  passenger  seat,  ‘  Y’know  Mia  you  gotta  be  a  bit  more  y’know  I  don’t  know  . . .  SPECIFIC.  ’  Shoulders  shrug,  and  he’s  all  ease.  Body  sinks  lower  into  leather  seat  as  he  casually  shrugs.  ‘  What  you  wanna  do  Mia  ?  Send  them  a  fucking  CARE  PACKAGE  . .  .  ’  THOUGH  her  tone  conveys  amusement,  and  laughter  is  not  far  off.  God  he  loves  her  laugh.  The  way  it  fills  up  the  whole  space  between  the  two  of  them,  and  threatens  to  consume  the  whole  goddam  car.  ‘  You  fuckin’  love  it.  ’  He  looks  over  at  her  as  she  turns  on  some  side  road.  ‘  Y’know  you  but  all  gave  me  the  fuckin’  idea  !  ’  Tone  infects  ever  so  as  he  shakes  head,  ‘  You’re  a  real  fuckin’  trip  you  know  that  ?  ’  OH  how  he  loves  her.  There’s  the  sound  of  an  explosion  as  he  cranes  neck  to  look  back  in  the  direction  of  the LATEST  meth  lab that  the  two  of  them  blew  up.  Sure,  he  didn’t  HAVE  to  go  THAT  far  but,  he  wanted  to.  Mia  needed  information from  the  son  of  a  bitch,  and  Jackson  was  MORE  than  willing  to  help.

Shaking her head at the understatement , Lara returned her gun to its holster . She hadn’t had any plans to fire the glock underground —even without the constant threat of booby traps and falling debris it was a rotten idea— but the creatures hadn’t seemed half - bothered by her arrows . The ringing in her ears would fade ; lost limbs could not be so easily replaced .

The cave network was almost completely sealed off from the rainforest above , growing the same kind of plants and micro - organisms one would find in a perpetually dark environment , but … she’d never seen animals like these before . They looked like oversized salamanders with claws . ❝ They didn’t even flinch . ❞

Nor did they seem particularly stressed by their presence . Never a good sign . Animals like these rarely held their ground unless they knew they’d win against anything dumb enough to cross their path . Even worse … she’d felt hunted .

   he sits on her lap on the train , tiredly watching out the window --- the blur of buildings had become a soothing and consistent presence , usually able to easily lull him to sleep . but jack keeps his eyes open , now that he finally gets to spend time with her . his head leans gently back onto her shoulder when he feels the tickle of her nose brushing his ear , making him giggle as she half-whispered ‘ I love you . ’  . it was the first thing said between them since reuniting and jack is pleasantly surprised , seeing as those are usually saved for right before he went to bed --- or after an argument . the blond smiles tiredly , turning his head a little to the side to get a better look at her .
