A Farms Work Is Never Done...

Larochette (Fiels, Fels), Luxemburg

These pictures accidentally landed here instead of my other blog (https://elisanichtbeth.tumblr.com), which is mainly about my travels and day trips. But I found some interesting literature related facts about Larochette:

Victor Hugo visited the town in 1862, 1864 and 1871 to visit his friend Jean Knaff, who was the mayor of Larochette. During his visits he made three drawings of the castle ruins. Here's one of them:

In 1863 Hugo wrote in his diary:

“La Rochette à quatre heures. Revu la ruine. Après le dîner sérénade. J’ai remercié. J’ai dit en finissant : Je fais des vœux pour que le jour arrive où la musique régnera sur les âmes et l’harmonie entre les peuples. » . (La Rochette um vier Uhr, die Ruinen nochmals besucht; nach dem Abendessen Serenade; ich habe gedankt mit den Worten : Ich wünsche mir den Tag herbei wo die Musik über die Seelen herrschen wird und die Harmonie zwischen den Völkern)"
