Headcanon A:  realistic

Widdershins’s is actually Fiona’s father, making Fernald actually her half-brother. Fiona suspects that that’s the case, but she has never actually asked Widdershins outright about it. Widdershins doesn’t want Fiona to judge her mother or think ill of her, so he has been lying to her about the exact timeline and order of events when it comes to their relationship. Fernald wanted Fiona to know the truth, so he probably dropped a couple of vague hints when he was still living with them. They went over Fiona’s head then. By the time of their reunion, there were more important things to talk about, so Fernald didn’t tell Fiona then. 

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

The best way to piss Fiona off is to call fungi plants. If you do, she will immediately launch into a verbal tirade about why you are completely wrong and fungi are the best kingdom. 

If there has been drinking involved, expect to be punched instead, since she can’t articulate herself well with any alcohol in her system. (For the show-verse where she’s an adult. Book-verse, she was too young!)

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Fiona never actually had a crush on Klaus, but she thought his interest was adorable. The kiss was an impulsive decision, and she doesn’t actually know why she did it. It wasn’t out of attraction, and the best explanation she can give is that it’s an apology to the Baudelaire she connected with the most. (This I feel like is at least partially realistic, next part goes into pure head canon territory...)

Fiona is actually gay. She likes girls and only girls, but she’s had so little interaction with them, she really doesn’t know how to deal with the prospect of actually face to face flirting with a girl or having a relationship. The only person who knew was Phil, who was honored to have her choose him to be the first person to come out to. Captain Widdershin’s was completely oblivious to it, but if he had known, he would have been cool with it. The only queer thing he wouldn’t have been cool with when it came to his kids is Fernald’s attraction to Olaf, because it’s Olaf. Widdershin’s himself has had some homosexual experiences, but he really only ever loved Fiona’s mother, so he considers himself heterosexual.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Fiona and Isadora were each other’s firsts a few years after the events of ASOUE. Isadora had had a crush on Fiona for a while, and Fiona was completely oblivious. Isadora had to completely spell it out to her after having written several couplets that were romantic, but Fiona couldn’t believe were about her. Fiona decided that she who hesitates is lost, so she kissed Isadora. 

The two didn’t wind up together - Fiona spends too much time exploring the seas and Isadora didn’t like being alone for that long - but the two are really good friends. Whenever Fiona is in port, they are sure to at least spend an evening together.
