Just hit 150k words on ao3 after uploading my first thing on January 1 this year. It was a New Years Resolution to myself, to a) write more and be creative and b) stop being ashamed of liking things, and I really never expected to write so much lol. That's pretty neat.
Took me over a month to write this but here, have like 2300 works of my Ben 10 fic its no where near done but whatever
Takes place roughly around UAF era IDK Rook's not here yet but they are plumbers so

"Approaching the coordinates now." Kevin announces while flipping some switches and checking monitors on the ships control panel.
Ben looked out the window skeptically at the empty expanse of space around them, taking an exaggerated sip of his smoothie. "Really, here? Are you sure you're reading that right?"
Kevin glares at Ben, "You questioning me, Tennyson?"
Ben throws his hands up in surrender before taking another sip from his drink. He looks over his shoulder behind his chair at his cousin. "What do you think?"
Gwen is floating in the air her legs crossed and eyes closed, a faint magenta light surrounding her. Her right hand is out, a glowing purple cube slowly spinning above it. She sighs and stands up, letting the cube fall to the ships artificial gravity into her palm as the light around her fades. "No, he's is right. This is definitely where the signal is from."
Kevin gives a smug look while Ben huffs.
"So what? It just magically appeared out of nowhere?" Ben asks.
"Maybe." Gwen shrugs, shifting the cube around and observing the faint pulsating glow. "It's an Anodine distress signal. According to Grandma, once an anodite is powerful enough, the constraints of time and space are just as much a joke to them as everything else."
"Which begs the question," Kevin asks, "if they were so powerful, what could scare them enough to call for help?"
Gwen hums in consideration of her boyfriends observation. He's right that not just anything could scare an anodite. It's why signals like this are so rare and they specifically were sent to investigate it over anyone else.
"Well, I don't see any big monster or universe ending calamity," Ben says. "Just empty space. What are we even supposed to do here?"
"What every other plumber does when they go on real missions," Kevin reaches over for the communications controls, "we observed. Now, we report." Ben huffs and takes another sip of his smoothie, clearly disappointed at not having anything to do. Gwen laughs at her cousin's misery, giving his shoulder a half sarcastic "there, there" pat.
"I'm sure there will bad guys to beat up when we get back," Gwen's tone is patronizing and Ben half heatedly waves her hand away. Kevin ignores Ben's grumbling about smoothies and cartoons he's missing in favor of pulling a hand radio towards himself
"Ship to base. This is Agent Levin and Team Tennyson reporting on the distress beacon. Do you read me? Over."
"Base t- ship. W- read y-u." The radio crackles and stutters due to the distance of how far out tracking the signal brought them. Kevin is just glad they're close enough for quick contact. "Wh-t's you're status, -evin?"
Kevin is about to respond when a sudden bright light fills the space around the ship, blinding the teens inside and shaking the ship like something big is repeatedly hitting it. Kevin immediately grabs for the ship controls as red alert lights blare and the group suddenly finds themselves in free fall. The glow from the cube grows brighter as it clatters on the ground, Gwen dropping the cube in favor of reaching for something to grab onto. The mix of bright magenta and deep red light drowns out any other color in the room. Ben's smoothie also falls to the ground when he grabs onto his own seat while Gwen falls to the ground with a grunt at the next jolt.
"Gwen!" Kevin shouts in alarm at the sound of his girlfriend hitting the ground.
"Kevin!" Ben shouts back, pointing out the suddenly appeared, rapidly approaching ground.
With a shout of frustration Kevin tightens his seat belt and does his best to pull the ship up from the nose dive it's in.
"Hold on to something!" Kevin yells as the ship nears the ground with no obvious signs of stopping. In a rush, Gwen attempts to cover herself and the ship in a shield of mana, although her own powers are hard to see her as its drowned out by the other bright lights around her.
Ignoring his own seat belt, Ben brings up his left arm to slam the omnitrix, hoping for any alien that could help them stop the fall. When nothing but a dying sound and fading green light emits from the watch he tries again. After the third try he's out of time and they hit the ground.
Luckily, Kevin was able to pull the malfunctioning ship up enough that instead of splatting into a crushed heap, it does more of a jumping skid along the bumpy ground. Unluckily, this does not stop Ben and Gwen from going flying as the ship careens to its side before slipping down a ledge and slamming into a rocky cliff. The ship stops still on its side, sending the two cousins falling down onto the window that used to be across from them. Both Ben and Gwen groan along with the ship as it settles into place.
"Ugh.." Gwen sits up as Ben lays next to her, catching his breathe.
"Gwen!" Kevin calls from where he's partially hung up by his seat's restraints. He reaches his hand out for the nearest metal to transform his hand into a sharp blade. Carefully cutting himself out, he drops down next to his girlfriend. He gently takes her arm to help her stand up while checking her over for any injuries. "Are you okay?"
Gwen sighs with a smile and tightens her hold on Kevin's hand. "Yeah. I think I'm okay."
Kevin breathes a sigh of relief, pulling Gwen closer in a light hug.
"Yeah I'm fine too, Kevin," Ben waves his arm around dramatically from where he's still laying on the ground breathing hard. "Thanks for asking!"
Kevin glares at the boy while Gwen huffs in annoyance and lets go of Kevin so that he can grab Ben's forearm to drag him up.
"Yeah, yeah, good to know." Despite his annoyed tone, Kevin does give the other boy a look over as he steadies himself on his own two feet. He doesn't let go until Ben gives him a small pat on the arm, signalling that he is actually okay.
Now that all three are up and accounted for, Kevin looks up and out of the opposite window facing an unfamiliar and dull sky, "let's get out of here." Together the three of them managed to pry open the door above them and climb up and out of the wreckage.
Dropping down from the side of the ship, they survey their surroundings. The ground around them is nothing but barren blueish dirt, the rest of the land around them is filled purple toned rocky hills covering steep cliffs on the horizon. The sky above them is a dull grey, nothing but barley visible wispy green tinted clouds occupying them. Despite there being no sign of a sun anywhere the atmosphere has some ambient light coming from some thin green fog. The only signs of life are the few remains of small, long dead and dried out bushes and grass.
"Where are we?" Gwen asks, bringing her hands up to rub her arms in the new air.
"No idea," Kevin remarks flatly, reaching down and absorbing the surrounding stone. "Where ever it is, this rock is like nothing I've ever felt before." He briefly observes the abnormal color and texture of his borrowed skin. He flexes his fingers to test their strength before shrugging. Kevin walks towards the crashed ship and begins the process of righting it as carefully as he can to best check its damage.
Gwen goes to turn toward her cousin, frowning when hes not where she expected him to be. At some point Ben had wandered off to the side, fiddling with the omnitrix, eyebrows pinched in a mix of confusion and frustration. "Ben?" Gwen steps closer to him. "Ben, what's wrong?"
"The omnitrix," Ben's voice has a hard, stressed quality to it. "It's not working."
"What?" Gwen asks, her words punctuated with a loud bang as Kevin sets down the crashed ship onto its somewhat intact belly. "What do you mean it's not working?"
"I mean," Ben pushed his arm closer towards Gwen, presenting the normally green watch in a state of grey. "It's not working."
"Whats not working?" Kevin asks as he steps up to the pair, stone fading from his skin.
"The omnitrix," Ben repeats. "It won"t work!"
"Guys."
"What do you mean it 'won't work'?" Kevin says skeptically. "How can it just not work?"
"I don't know!" And now Ben annoyed, "I can't even get it to turn on!"
"Guys."
"What do you mean it's not 'turning on'?" Kevin snarks back. "You sure you're using it right?"
"Oh because you know how it works so much better than me," Ben rolls his eyes.
"Guys!"
Gwen sighs when she finally manages to get the boy's attention, only Ben's surprise and Kevin's admonished face keeping her from yelling more.
She takes a steadying breathe. "The omnitrix isn't the only thing that's not working." She raises her own hand, showing off the dim, flickering pink light emanating from it, weaker than any of them have seen it in years.
Kevin's eyes widen in concern. He reaches out, gently taking the outstretched hand into his own as Gwen lets her power fade out.
"Are you-"
"I'm fine," She interrupts him. "Just, cold? I guess." Gwen brings her hand back to chest. "My magic is still there, just.. distant. I think its this place. It feels empty. Like it has no mana of its own."
Kevin and Ben both frown at that. They may not know as much about mana and magic as Gwen but they both know that its more or less omnipresent, at least in some aspect. It's why anadites are so powerful and can live almost anywhere in the universe. That combined with a mana based distress beacon..
"I guess we figured out what would scare a powerful anodite," Ben's voice is flat as he watches Gwen tighten her hold on herself, imagining what could have happened if she wasn't only part anodite and fully relied on mana to stay alive.
"I'll check out the ship." Kevin turns and walks toward the crashed ship with a new sense of urgency. "See if I can get a signal out."
"I'm gonna take a look around," Ben gestures vaguely to the area behind them. " I doubt we're the first ones here, maybe I can find something."
"Just don't do anything stupid," Gwen calls out as Ben starts to walk away.
Ben scoffs, "When have I ever done anything stupid?"
"Would you like the list chronologically, or alphabetically?" Gwen mocks, even as Ben waves her off, ignoring the jab. "I'm serious though. Until we figure out what's going on, you need to be careful." She pointed looks at his left wrist and the greyed out omnitrix on it.
"Oh, relax Gwen," Ben throws his hands behind his head, attempting to look relaxed while also hiding the malfunctioning device from her sight. "I'm just taking a quick look. I'll be right back. Promise."
"Just don't go to far, okay? We have no idea what's out here."
"Yeah, yeah. I get it," Ben throws his right hand out in front of him, gesturing toward the ship behind them, a loud clang and fiery spark of electricity coming from it. "You just make sure Mr. genius over there doesn't tare apart our ride home."
Gwen winces as even more clanging comes from inside. "Yeah. I should do that," Gwen laughs.
Ben gives her small lopsided smile before waving and turning away to wander around.
Mood effectively lightened, Gwen looks to the crashed ship, hearing more noises coming from the cockpit.
Stepping through the propped open door, Gwen spots him under the console, laying on his back to dig into the wires, a dented panel next to him. Crouching next to the scattered tools on the ground, she dips her head, trying to see what her boyfriend is doing.
"How's it look?" She asks. Kevin hits his head in surprise, dropping his tool.
"What have I told you about sneaking up on me while I'm working," Kevin pulls himself out from under the console, sitting up to rub his forehead.
Gwen tries to stifle her laughter, "Sorry." She leans forward, giving a small kiss to the irritated spot. "All better?"
"I don't know," Kevin touches the spot she kissed. "I think it still hurts here too," he moves hid fingers done to tap the top of his lips. Gwen rolls her eyes but gives him a quick kiss anyway.
He tries to follow her when she pulls back, a dumb grin on his face. Gwen places a hand on his mouth, stopping him in place.
"The ship?" She asks, eyebrow raised as she gives him a teasing smirk.
The playful smile on Kevin's face is quickly replaced with a frustrated frown. "It just doesn't make sense," he steps further back, shoving some of his dumped tools around to make space on the floor. "Sure the outside is super banged up but the internal wiring is more or less fine. There's no reason we shouldn't at least have emergency power on the main console if nothing else."
Gwen hums as she sits down next to him, taking a look at the pried open but not damaged internal wiring. "Think it's the same thing that's happening to the omnitrix?" She asks. The crease in Kevin's brow grow deeper. Sensing that it's not a question he's going to answer, Gwen instead reaches out to give a comforting rub to the arm closest to her. "Hey," she says softly. "We'll figure it out. We always do." Kevin reaches up to take a hold of Gwen's hand, a grounding force again his continued anxiety.
Gwen uses her other hand to pull Kevin's face away from the de-powered console. She rubs her thumb along his jaw,"Everything will be fine." She smiles as his face finally relaxes just a bit.
Of course that's also when they hear a loud, sharp yell of pain from outside the ship.
"Oh come on!" Kevin shouts as both he and Gwen scramble to their feet and run in the direction of the continued yelling.
I was very busy recently and on top of that the weather decided that it will skip the spring and go straight to summer. The heat's been draining my lifeforce, I swear. So, I unfortunately didn't manage to match the insane speed with which I've written the previous chapter. Still, I have almost 5k words and have a very clear idea for everything that's missing, so it shouldn't take that much time.
You ever listen to music and suddenly get random ideas? From the songs. I am like working on three at best alternative endings for season 4 for whatever reason. Just because a song. SONGS. Gave me ideas. At the middle of the damn night. And what if scenarios.
Had this one idea: no blades of time being used, because they've been dodged or 'lost' so Bumblebee and Megatron don't "relaspe";
This other one idea like what if Optimus was the one to get shot instead of Megatron by Liege Maximo and (maybe) be the victim on the blades of time being used on??? Reverted to his PRE war self or during the war still self???
Then this dumbass one. Megatron joining Liege Maximo on his side, probably just for the sake of staying alive and later at end-like betraying him. (Have been trying to work on this fic a little more)
