😴 - What's a dream project you'd love to create about Cassian?
I've started writing bits and pieces of this, but it would definitely be a fic that allows me to do all the Illyrian worldbuilding that's in my head but not yet on paper (as much). One day I'll start posting this new Human!Nesta & Illyrian!Cassian fic (when my other long wips are done). I just love the idea of deep diving into different cultures I think would work well as a framework for Illyria, from architecture and art to customs, clothing, language, etiquette, politics, and more. Everything SJM didn't give us, more or less. This would also allow me to dive into his youth, his relationship with his mother, and dissect his issues. Delicious. (But enormous and I can't do that while also juggling 10 other wips, I can't)

So i'm planning a TGCF Classical Music AU! I have a long fic plan, a long project for it! (The plan is to start posting the fic in july 🤍🤍)
Since this project passionate me a lot, I really want to share some of my thought before getting into it.
I went with my own orchestra experience. Classical music was (and still is) part of my life, and I played in orchestras.
"who is gonna play what"
Going with the vibes, the stereotypes, the aesthetic, or the “relation” of the instrument together, to give a whole that is somewhat fitting
Instruments
Xie Lian: Violin. As the main instrument. Known to be the one to guide the cue, known to be classical. It's really a central instrument in a symphonic orchestra. Often the melody, the first chair... So as the protag, for me it fits.
Hua Cheng: Piano. I feel piano works well for him. Piano is very versatile and can do a lot; participate in the orchestra, but also on the solo level. Often, a soloist is going to play with a piano and not a full orchestra. And I felt, as part of the fic is for Hua Cheng and Xie Lian to do a solo.
In addition, HuaLian is going to be the main couple of the fic, and this dynamic is very important for me. There is one official art where XL is playing the piano, and HC the violin... but I personally prefer the other way around; the piano is the assistance, while the soloist is the one to shine in the duo. HC would want to add to XL, but for XL to shine, to be the one who is on the spotlight, while he's doing his utmost so people "worship" him. So this is why I preferred XL with the soloist role, and HC in the accompaniment.
Jun Wu: Violin too. It's central to the fic. He is violinist, he knows exactly what XL does. He is even Xl's private teacher, helping him to improve in his play. He knows the instrument perfectly, and he is himself a professional and expert known in the domain, even though he doesn't perform anymore. Plus, for the orchestra, he's the maestro; and a lot of maestro are musician initially
Mu Qing: Also Violin. I really like the parallel with Xie Lian, and I feel it would fit him too. He would be really good, impressive, but still behind Xie Lian in the domain, still not the first chair. Really able to play the same piece as Xie Lian, still very good, Xie Lian wouldn't consider him less at all, but himself would still be lower and it will affect him.
Feng Xin French Horn. Honestly, I just really see him play a brass instrument, and I think the softest of them is the french horn. And I do think brass fits Feng Xin, but the "i'm the center of attention" as some other brass tend to sound like, it is less him.
Ling Wen: Tuba. The Heaven was in CHAOS without her... and I heard an ensemble without tuba and it feels so empty, it feels like it has no foundation and for Lingwen... It fits to be the base of foundation. Not standing out, but without her, everyone is fuck*d.
Pei Ming: Trumpet. He likes to be seen. He likes to be heard. He's cool, he has the confidence... and it's legit the nice thing about the Turmpet. It will take its place, it will be heard often. Pei Ming fits the description.
Shi Qingxuan: The flute. Honestly, it's really about the style. I think they fit well with the flute, as it's an important instrument. Often, the flute musician I know are people with confidence, and very friendly, liking to talk, and SQX fit that image very well. Getting along with everyone.
He Xuan: Oboe. The oboe has a very nice style, that I really like. I like the instrument and I thought it would fit He Xuan.
Shi Wudu: Clarinet. I think the clarinet is "the" wood, from my own orchestra experience. It will be the instrument giving the tone for the other winds (legit, the first violin plays the A, strings checked their tuning. And then violin will let the clarinet give the tuning for the winf after) so it's kinda "the first violin of the wind section" and it does fit Shi Wudu.
To go a bit deeper here: Shi Wudi/Shi Qingxuan/He Xuan all three have some... fucked up relationshipss. And them being the 3 principal wood wind instrument felt fitting. Flute/Oboe, Flute/Clarinet and Clarinet/Oboe all have duet, and it does fit so well with that interchangeable fate fucked up trio!
Yin Yu: Viola. I am SO sorry Yin Yu.... but the viola is the forgettable instrument. So many people don't even know that it exists, and in the orchestra, we rarely hear them distinctively. PLus... it's the unloved instrument (just check: viola meme on google and it will answer) but god it's so fitting
Quan Yizhen Cello. The reason is actually something i experienced in my own orchestra. We had a piece and Viola FINALLY had the melody!! It's so rare, and they were so happy.... but the maestro thought that it wasn't easy to hear them enough, so he asked for the cello to do the melody with the Viola; stealing their solo and making it that they weren't heard (as a cello is much louder than a viola) so cello stole the spotlight to the viola... which just sounds so much Yin Yu/Quan Yizhen for me, If it wasn't from this situation, Quan Yizhen would be at the percussion.
Lang Qianqiu: Trombone. I think as a trombone, he would fit. He is easy going, cool but a little focused when he has a task. And Also, he won't think much before acting, and maybe be rough by time, and it fits with the brass in my head, and even more with trombone. PLaying loudly, being loudly, but still beautiful.
Qi Rong: I actually struggled with him the most. But at this end, I thought about somethieng and I am satisfied. I think Qi Rong would do a good saxophonist. I think he wouldn't like much the orchestra and playing in group, and would also much prefer
Banyue: Doublebass. Actually, the thought is really because she is soooo smol and the idea to give her the biggest instrument is very very very amusing to me. But I also think that she's going to be a good base for the orchestra, and appreciate it much.
Pei Xiu: I... actually couldn't think much, but I think an instrument that needs "discipline" sounded good. So I gave him one of the base instrument, the bassoon. And him and Banyue both being base instrument was cute for me.
Mei Nianqing: Used to be a clarinet player, but he stopped playing. Still knowing how to play, yearning for it, but he's not playing anymore; his orchestra days are more than over. Again, clarinet for similar reason than Shi wudu.
Yushi Huang: I think she would fit really well as the harpist. The instrument seemed a little more "detached" than the usual orchestra one, but she would truly be amazing and good. It's delicate, but also you need a lot of techniques to be playing it. And the aesthetic really pleases me too
Purposely not really showing much of what I’ve already written (last night), but have a title as a little clue as I continue writing it tonight. 100% inspired by @milquetoast-on-acid ‘s tags on a certain Shandy post. A post I reblogged today with their tags included.

Thank you @myeoning-call for giving me a chance to take part in your big project.
Word count: 1K+
Summary: You are preparing your wedding when a former lover shows up. After clearing things out you continue being friends and witness him becoming happy as well.
Alright so a few months ago I said I wanted to explore Eskel’s addiction.
It seems today is the day I do that. Am I hurting myself a little with Eskel feels? Yes very much 😢
[...]This,” he gestures at his scarred face, “People might not know how I got them but I do. And that’s what people remember me by. So yes, to answer your question Lambert, I need the fisstech. Cause that’s the only thing that let me forget for a few hours. Theses scars? Well, these scars are my legacy.”
I don’t think I wanna make it too dark? I want to make it more a “I love Eskel so much even if he doesn’t know his own value", kinda fic. And Lambert’s gonna be a good brother and help me with that. Let me know if some of you could be interested in this fic? No Geralt, No Jaskier, just Lambert trying to show Eskel his value with Aiden and a few other cats’ help.

Fandom: Dungeons and Dragons, Legend of Drizzt, Icewind Dale (all part of the same fandom but like, moar)
Project: The Icewind Saga (relatively new, still experimental)
Characters: Nalfein, Dinin, and Erevain
Rating: Teen and Up
Note: I wanted to work on Dinin and Nalfein’s dynamic first and then figure out if I want to add Drizzt. I decided I do but I thought the character work was a good piece for fictober.
Erevain was ignoring most of the other patrons to the inn, more consumed in what he was doing than anyone around him, not that many people were nearby anyway.
“Don’t wander off too far,” came a request as someone walked into the room.
“This inn is the size of like, a house I don’t know how far I can wander,” came the reply, tinged with an elvish accent, “it’s freezing up here and there’s a fire.”
“It’s called Icewind Dale for a reason ya half-wit dark elf,” came another remark. The occupant of the room, someone clad in all black and standing just beside Erevain, laughed softly but didn’t reply. Erevain glanced up from his book and jolted. Leaning against the mantle of the inn’s fireplace, hands folded behind his back so the fire reached them, was a small, slender drow with a long white ponytail and light green eyes. Erevain’s sudden movement caught the drow’s attention, but it quickly moved away, paying more mind to the muffled conversation occurring in the room over. After a long moment of silence, he looked back at Erevain, holding out one hand.
“Nalfein,” he introduced, but quickly retracted the hand before the thought of taking it even crossed Erevain’s mind.
“Are you-?” Erevain began, trying not to sound rude, “Being polite?”
“Yeah,” Nalfein gave a slow nod, “yeah, I think I’m being polite.”
“Why?” Erevain asked.
“Because...I have manners?” Nalfein looked utterly bewildered.
“I just-” Erevain cut off, realizing he sounded like his cousin Xan again.
“You just don’t think drow have manners,” Nalfein finished the thought, “Do you think this troubles me? Tell me about yourself then cousin, I’m in an inquisitive mood.”
Nalfien fell into the chair across from Erevain and pulled his legs up to sit cross-legged. To urge Erevain to speak more, he smiled.
It didn’t work. Erevain was now twice as suspicious and really wanted this drow to go away.
“Nal he doesn’t want to talk to you,” a dwarf scolded from the door, “no one does.”
Nalfein’s smile vanished and he started to get up, but stopped himself and sat right back down, eyes closed and mouth set in a firm line.
“Baby,” the dwarf snapped, then left. Erevain stared at Nalfein for a moment before speaking.
“Not to be rude, but I don’t really trust you enough to say anything,” he admitted, “I grew up with stories of drow and their evil.”
Nalfein didn’t reply, he only heaved a heavy sigh.
“Would you mind going away?” Erevain asked.
“Yes,” Nalfein said sharply, not elaborating further. After a moment, he stopped, looking at the doorway once more. His face softened a little and Erevain followed his gaze.
Peering out from behind the doorframe was another drow, this one not much older than twelve.
“Were you waiting for me, Dinin?” Nalfein asked.
“When are we going home?” the small drow asked.
“I just need to finish this one task for the archmage, then we’re good,” Nalfein replied, standing, “Why? Do you miss uncle Zak’s training already?”
“No,” the young drow scowled.
“Then you,” Nalfein scooped up the child and put a finger on his chest, “need to stop whining.”
The small drow scowled, then looked at Erevain.
“Surface elf!” he shouted at the top of his lungs, “Faerie!”
The drow leapt from Nalfein’s arms and ran towards Erevain, holding a small dagger in his small fist.
“No!” Nalfein grabbed the child before he could do any damage, “Sorry, he’s still new to the surface. He’ll learn.”
“Fight me!” the small drow demanded.
“Yeah no, we are going back to the cranky dwarf and we are not stabbing the nice surface elf, Dinin,” Nalfein said softly, “we don’t stab people.”
“Yes we do,” Dinin insisted.
“We don’t stab people who haven’t done anything,” Nalfein corrected himself, “and certainly not if there’s no benefit. Why would we need to kill him?”
“Because he might betray us,” Dinin said firmly.
“Okay,” Nalfein nodded, “I need to remind Zak that Briza isn’t an acceptable babysitter.”
“Briza’s smart.”
“Oh no she’s not, she just tells people that.”
“Then why’s she so strong?”
“Because she’s taller than you? Honestly Dinin I can pick you up and I’m shorter than mother.”
“Matron!”
“Mother.”
Erevain cracked a smile, “Yours?”
“By Lolth’s teeth, no, no he’s my younger brother,” Nalfein answered, “I have no children and am rather thankful no priestess of Lolth has decided I’d make a fine broodmare because I quite like living.”
“Archmage likes you,” Dinin remarked.
“Archmage isn’t gonna kill me for breathing wrong, now you need to stop talking.”
“I AM A FREE DROW NOT BEHOLDEN TO YOUR ORDERS!” Dinin shouted as loudly as he could.
“Do you need a nap?” Nalfein asked.
“I need to stab him,” Dinin pointed his small dagger at Erevain.
“Someone come take my brother before I hurt him!” Nalfein shouted out of the room, a remark that came with a very frantic human darting into the room, scooping up Dinin, and running back out with Nalfein in tow. Erevain watched them leave and tried hard not to laugh.
Drow were less evil and more a bizarre array of dysfunction Erevain associated more with dwarves.
