#fic exchanges

I've participated in several exchanges, but never organized one. It'll be a multifandom exchange, and I'm thinking I'd first need to set up a calendar/ask for volunteers to help me.

You've probably noticed that I didn't manage to get the HeiHua Exchange up and running this year, and wasn't able to get Gen and Small-Med organised last year, which brings me to something I've been pondering for a bit.

As you're probably aware (or can tell), running fanwork exchanges takes a lot of effort - as does participating in them! We have 5 regular(ish) traditional format exchanges a year in the DMBJ fandom, 4 of which are run by me, and it's... a lot! And I know it's a lot for all the creators in the fandom, too, especially the ones who try to participate in all of them. (Leaving LNY Exchange aside, given the difference in format and timing to the way the other five are run)

So of the four I run, I'm planning to cut them back to three a year instead, and would like input from all of you on what your preferred look for this would be.

For reference, the exchanges in order of typical engagement are:

Most engagement: Rarepair

Second most engagement: Small-Medium Ships

Third most engagement: Gen

Least engagement: HeiHua

i used to be a competitive figure skater, so while it is cliche, the best date i ever went on was going out for dinner and then ice skating outside in the city. i also just love the feeling of having to shovel snow and then going inside and warming up with some hot chocolate under the blankets. and just snow in general. i love anything to do with the snow

my personal love language is words of affirmation!! but besides that, i also love seeing different takes on quality time though, especially with a career in the nhl where that's so scarce.

i'm good with anyone i listed truly, but if i had to choose my top 3, it would be: jack hughes, brock boeser and quinn hughes. but if those three aren't sparking your inspiration, anyone else on my list works!

i dont mind either, but probably lean more towards winter

ive always been a sucker for something akin to ex-friends / what could've been / second chances x lovers. there's something beautifully nostalgic about it to me. but i will eat up pretty much anything romantic and fun and cute. as for tropes i don't like to see, nothing comes to mind at the moment!

i love when OCs are their own person, if that makes sense? i think it reflects who i am as a person so that's probably why. i'm not in love with any OC doing something purely For Their Person and becoming codependent, if that makes sense?

General Likes:  I love the world of Thedas, and love art & stories that take part of that world and really get to the good good flavor of it. I really like angst, or fluff with just a hint of angst! Some specific genfic things I like are casefic, complicated family dynamics, rivals-to-grudging-respect-to-friendship, and I also really like cats, so if you give a character a cat, I will be happy.

General dislikes: Although I love angst, I don't like stories that focus on injury/sickness (including that as part of a larger story is fine! just not as the only topic). For characters who die (or can die) in canon, that is ok to include, just please tag for it! I love canon deviation and certain AUs, but I really don’t get into any AUs that change the setting for Dragon Age

DNW: any kind of abuse, crossovers, humiliation, modern AUs, mundane AUs, second-person POV, whump.

Specific Character notes: I tag this blog pretty comprehensively! going to a character's tag on my blog will likely give you a good idea of what I like about them.
