Last December, Mute Records & Erasure hosted a remix competition for their new single, “Sacred”, exclusively on Blend. Over 1,000 producers collaborated and shared remixes in a variety of styles. A big thanks to everyone for entering the competition. Vince and Andy had a hard time picking a winner, but in the end they selected Fiben's remix which you can hear below. Congratulations! Fiben’s remix will be featured on Erasure’s upcoming single, coming out on Mute Records March 16th.

We asked Fiben to sit down with us for an interview so we could hear more about his creative process: 

How long have you been listening to Erasure?

First time I listened to Erasure was in the early 90s. Although I was young then, my older brother influenced my taste in music. Back then and even today, we listened too a lot of italo disco. I came across this contest on remixcomps.com when I was looking for a new remix to do. At first I just started out for fun but then it started to sound really good so I kept at it. 

Whats your favorite Erasure track?

Hard to choose, but it's either "Oh L'Amour" or "Sometimes" 

What DAW do you use & what do you like about it?

I started in 2001 with Fruity Loops 3 but didn't stick with it. I didn't think I could get heard back then, since the Internet wasn't like it is today. 3 years ago i started again, working with FL Studio 10 and now 11. I love the ease it provides me for producing sounds and mixing. I have learned quite well and I don't think I would try any other program at this point!

What was your favorite part of remixing "Sacred" by Erasure?

I like the vocals, really I could do 10 different songs with their pace but i preferred to keep the original rhythm and make a modern house production. 

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?

I would to work with a progressive house artist. A collaboration with Ad Brown or Proof would be a dream for me. Of course remixing Erasure was a great honor for me. 

What's next for you musically? 

After winning this contest, I have a big boost and the courage to move on with music-making. Right now I've got two original mix tracks on my resume and I really want to continue in house and the progressive house scene.
