I started doing this after tracking transits based on tropical calculations and then trying to find them in the sky. Most of them were always off by an entire constellation forward. Sidereal came close to my physical observations but it does not take into account the different sizes of the constellations. Virgo and Pisces are huge, so planets are there longer than they are in, say, Capricorn, a much smaller constellation.

***Fun fact: This makes Virgo placements the most common because it is the biggest constellation.

Input birth location in settings

Input date and time as birthdate, hit pause so it doesn’t count up

Go to “E” on the horizon to find the exact Eastern horizon. Turn on “landscape” in settings. Look at which constellation is physically on the horizon (and closest to the “E”), AKA the constellation that is rising. That’s your rising sign

Search for each planet individually

Use whole sign house system to determine house placements. If your rising sign is house one, the sign that comes next is house two, and so on

Rahu/Ketu are a bit more complicated- would take more advanced knowledge of astronomy but I have figured it out

Solar Returns also complicated and advanced but I figured it out. These are calculated completely wrong online. Usually not even the correct rising sign

Also, you will run into planets being in Ophiuchus because it is part of the ecliptic- see photo below. This is the path the Sun and planets follow over time.

For now, I combine Scorpio and Ophiuchus, pretty much just calling it all Scorpio. This is because the lore behind them connects them as one physical entity anyway.

I feel like I should name this form of astrology, which I believe is the most (and only) accurate form because it is calculated using what is physically above you in the night sky.

Anyway, this is literally the only reason I know I’m a Sagittarius Moon. Both tropical and sidereal have me as a Capricorn Moon albeit at 24° and 0° respectively (tropical is always ahead of sidereal by exactly 24° because it does not account for the Earth’s tilt distorting it’s calculations over time).

Jack is 17.7613455125 times faster than Ophiuchius but the end is inevitable and it will always catch up.💔
