Sudden Realizations
A/N: Another piece to accompany the previous one, since itâs better to unravel the mystery.
Taranee has so much potential that I should explore and really tell more often. Hereâs a backstory-ish piece, when she was just a teen and how she fell in love. :D
I should probably re-watch BP, but I hope I did the character with her, some sort of justice. Iâm sure half of you notice I have a thing for... unrequited feelings, lmaooo. However, it does get better. *immediately goes to plan one-shot or WIP*

"You're never going to have it!"
Blades clanged above as two spears charged against each other, hitting and striking. Shrill battle cries of two young girls echoed across a field. They didn't fight with ferocity, only practicing with playfulness.
No scrape, scratch, or wound had been formed, so it hadn't turned into an intense training session.
When their spears clashed, they laughed and scraped the wood over them. A girl lowered her spear, lunging forward while trying to aim for the other's spearhead.
However, she turned to another side and avoided the blade.
Nakia grunted whilst dodging another aim thrown at her. "Take that! I'll make sure you won't maintain your grip!"
"Hey! You were the one, who made me drop a sword earlier," Taranee pointed out with a grumble. "Now it's my turn to retaliate!"
"I doubt it. What do you think you can do, huh?"
"Bring you down with me!"
Taranee pulled her spear back before grabbing a sword. Nakia laid a hand at her sides, frowning in disapproval.
"That's pure cheating, your Highness!"
"If you say it like that, Nakia, it seems I am."
"You can't fight with that sword! Get that spear back!"
With mischief, she grinned. She poked an edge of the spear with the tip of her sword. She should have proper training in terms of sword and spear fighting but she was having too much fun. Her friend slid the spearhead down the handle off from her sword and pulled her arm back with it.
Nakia tossed her spear on the grass, throwing her hands up in surrender. Then Taranee slid her sword away in a bag with a brief snicker.
Panting, she flapped a hand on her face to fan herself.
"You're sweating, your Highness," Nakia pointed out, pressing a hand on her knee.
"Whereas you do look as if you can be a part of the Dora Milaje," Tarz remarked cheekily.
"I'm not sure if Okoye would agree with that." Nakia clicked her tongue, wiping her face. "You still have lessons to attend, Taranee."
"Please. My sisters are taking most of my tutor's time. It can wait."
Nakia raised a brow, scrutinizing her with those mesmerizing dark eyes.
"Alright, fair enough. But we should return soon."
Just as her friend sighed, she dashed towards her. She collided against her, falling down over the grassy ground. Nakia tried smacking her hand away except Taranee didn't deter. She propped her elbows beside Nakia's, almost pinning her down. She reached for her arms and neck, lightly brushing her fingers over them.
Nakia wheezed as if stifling a laugh. "Your Highness! Stop tickling me!"
She was having too much fun to stop, she thought, grinning then chuckled.
When the tickling kept on going, Nakia burst out with a laugh.
Taranee turned motionless, shock taking over her being. Warmth and affection huddled together, rushing to her like a huge tidal wave. Her heart might have also grown three sizes, it's rate blooming into a rapid rhythm.
It pounded in her ears and her breath hitched in her throat.
Slowly, she slipped off to breathe. With Nakia's bright and vibrant laughter filling up her world as it's only sound. It enthralled her. She couldn't think of anything else except of how she joined her. How it was a beautiful feeling, unlike anything else she had ever known.
She had tickled Nakia several times in the past and yet. . . she sensed a difference in this moment. A difference she couldn't put a name on. And it usually didn't go on this long either.
Eventually, it subsided as Nakia gained control. She cleared her throat, getting up on her feet.
"Oh, what do you know!" Taranee said, her mouth curving into a smile. "We probably should start going back."
"I guess it's better if we went back now," Nakia replied, slowly rubbing the back of her neck.
She stepped back and nodded, not sure if her pounding heart was a sign of anything. Either from exhilaration the exercise or her sudden epiphany.
On their long way back to the palace, Taranee found her mind occupied with plenty of thoughts. New and she didn't have it for her friend before. It created a glow within her chest. A faint heat crept up her cheeks.
If Taranee was being honest with herself, she didn't want anyone to take her heart. Yet if she could give it to her any person, it would be. . . Nakia. She could trust her to take care of it.
Even though, it might change things for her, she had to keep it to herself. They had different goals and she refused to let her feelings get in the way of it.
