I completely understand the concern!  Ultimately, it is up to you who you send messages to, and I don’t want any followers to feel like they were tricked into sending nice thoughts to someone being openly bigoted.

We’ve had similar asks and discussions on this blog before.  The conclusion that we, the mods, have come to is essentially this:

Everybody deserves love and, conversely, no one deserves anonymous hate.  If you want to respectfully disagree with somebody, that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean that they deserve to be on the receiving end of vile messages, regardless of what they may have done to “deserve it.”
