Reposted from @obispokid #ThrowbackThursday a lil while back #JCole dropped probably one of the most heartfelt gritty songs of his career called #BeFree I remember hearing the song for the first time and thinking of how impactful it was on my spirit and the way it resonated with me personally. #MikeBrown had just been killed and the #FergusonRiots we're going on and I remember feeling the need to use my voice somehow thru my work to speak out against the injustices that are plaguing our society today, primarily within the black community. I felt a social and moral responsibility to find a way to help people understand the oppression we're faced with and inspire them to help fight for the necessary changes to provide a better future for all of us. #JCole inspired me and touched me with his message and I really wanted to capture some visuals to help support his movement but I had no way of reaching his camp so I took it upon myself to just creatively cut together a music video of my own. Now today that video has touched over a million other people on #Youtube and my actions have helped people empathize with the struggle we face everyday. I guess the moral of the story is, use your voice and whatever talents God has given you to make this world a better place and to speak on the injustices you see.
