The Walla Walla Valley American Viticultural Area (Black & White) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view looking to the northeast across some nearby wineries. The Blue Mountains are off in the distance. While an amazing view in and of itself from the color image, I found converting to Black & White with Capture NX2 brought out a rich tonal contrast. From the nearby vineyards to the wooden fence and nearby homes and trees and then the Blue Mountains off in the distance...it all had a changing contrast in the countryside that I found really came out in the final image.
Can't you just see a drive winding up that hill?

A Long Stretch of Idaho State Highway 34 by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I always love the chance to stand in the middle of a long stretch of empty highway and compose an image capture. Sometimes I like getting close to the ground and trying to capture that feel of the gravel and grit near the pavement. Other times, it's nice to stand up and take a long view looking far off into the distance such as here with the mountains. The peaks off in the distance are Sherman and Soda Peak.
