So there's something I've noticed throughout the years of reading many many stories...
And while someone else probably has brought this up before me, I felt like talking about it.
There's something I noticed in stories, fanfiction or not, that caught my curiosity.
Why is it always a gay male competing against a female for a male?
Honestly, there's always that one story where there's this guy whose crushing on another guy, but that guy has like a really mean bully girl/friend that becomes the mc's rival?
It seems awfully stereotypical, to me, and there's always been this thing in which people feminize gay males, or make it look like they hate women completely just because they're gay.
People, you don't have to be attracted to someone to be their friend or respect them. That's common sense.
It also makes it seem as if gay males just want to "replace" females, and that's a harmful stereotype.
It's also become problematic in fandoms, especially in MLM ships.
Guys. Targetting and hating the canon female love interest doesn't help your ship in any way. Just makes people hate you and the ship as well.
For example, I ship TodoDeku/TodoIzu, Todoroki and Midoriya from My Hero Academia. However, I don't hate Ochako just because she canonically has a crush on Midoriya. Why? Because she's a genuinely good character, and has nothing to do with the fact that I ship Midoriya with someone else. I don't like when people hate on her just for the fact they feel as if they need to antagonize someone in order to validate their ship.
I love the friendship that Uraraka and Midoriya has. Even if I don't see their relationship in a romantic sense, I still appreciate their closeness and friendship. I respect the people who ship them, because everyone has their own ship, and that's perfectly fine.
Writers, especially fanfic writers, don't demonize women just so you can get two male characters together.
Not only it's stereotypical to gay men, it's also misogynistic towards women.
Let's show respect to women while also respecting gay males, shall we? :)
¿Primero se es hija? O ¿Primero se es mujer? De igual modo eso no nos salva de ser juzgadas

Félix and Agustín (and Bruno ofc) are the most outspoken feminists in the entire town and you can fight me on that
Let liberal kpop fans know that purple haired delicate kpop boys with makeup doesn't make them any less sexist or a pixie boy free from the patriarchy. It's totally irrelevant
Call them kings or queens or whatever but don't put your heart on it to believe they are special or will be exceptions. I've never seen activism that isn't performative or baity from them because this is an industry that strictly bans any mention of politics.
