you were sprawled across the floor with your best friends, half-eaten snacks scattered around the blanket you’d thrown down. someone had suggested truth or dare and, of course, rin had rolled her eyes like it was the dumbest thing in the world.

“seriously? we’re not twelve.” she muttered, tugging at the hem lf her lacy camisole.

“shut up, rin. you’re playing.” you shot back, leaning closer just to watch her glare sharpen. it always made you laugh how she looked so intimidating, but the tips of her ears betrayed her—already red from the idea of having to answer anything.

the game circled around a few times, harmless truths and dares. when it landed on rin, everyone perked up.

“truth or dare?” you asked, your grin a little too mischievous.

rin squinted at you, then sighed. “…truth.”

“coward,” you teased before tapping your chin, thinking hard. then, suddenly, the question slipped out. “who in this room would you kiss?”

the group oooh’d loudly, making a groan escape rin's berry lips.

“pass."

“no passes,” you sing-songed.

she stayed quiet for a long moment, chewing her lip. you thought she’d refuse outright, but then her eyes flicked to you for half a second before darting awau . “…next question.” she muttered, face bright red.

the group lost it.

later, when it was rin’s turn to pick on you, she smirked—just a little—and asked, “truth or dare?”

you shot her a cocky grin. “dare.”

she leaned back, feigning casual, but you noticed how her hands clenched in her lap. “…i dare you to kiss me.”

the room fell silent, and you swore you could hear her heart hammering as loud as yours.

you raised a brow, leaning in. “isn’t this what you were too chicken to admit earlier?”

rin glared, but her blush gave her away. “shut up and just do it already.”

so you did.

the kiss was brief—awkward, soft, sweet—but enough to send the group screaming and rin looking away with a muffled, “i hate this stupid game.”

but when her hand brushed yours under the blanket a few minutes later, you knew she didn’t hate it that much.
