Knorr Wereldgerech: Poké Bowl
source: as always with the wereldgerechten, not a recipe but a product. It’s a grab-and-cook kinda box of herbs spices and stuff, just buy the fresh ingredients (shopping list provided on the box, often in 3 versions: normal, extra veggies and vegetarian) and you have everything for a whole tasty meal.
Materials
A shitload of smaller bowls if you want to have people make their own at the dinner-table
Small cooking pan for the sushi-rice
If making with meat/fish: frying pans for cooking those
Bowl or jar or bottle for the mayo
Ingredients
Carrot julienne, 50 gr
Edamame beans, 80 gr (can use frozen)
Spring onions, 3
Avocado, 1
Cucumber, halve of one
Corn from a can, can for 1 person
Wakame (seaweed, the non-dried kind), 100-ish grams
Mayonnaise, 6 tbsp
Chicken breast (whole or cubed), as many as you want or need
(Optional, but not really) Spices for the chicken (S&P, garlic, onion, cayenne, can sub MSG for salt)
Piece of salmon, as many as you want or need
Method
Cube the chicken and add it with the spices and some oil to a bowl to marinate for a bit.
Cook the rice: fill a pan with 300 ml cold water and the rice. Bring to a boil and boil on low for 15 minutes (with the lid on the pan). Let the rice cool down a bit when done boiling.
In the meantime, prep your ingredients. If using frozen, thaw your edamame beans in the microwave, cut up the spring onions in rings, slice the avocado and the cucumber. Drain the corn.
Mix the saucemix (for the mayo) with 2 tbsp water and 6 tbsp mayo.
Heat up a frying pan or 2, add some oil and cook your chicken and salmon. My package of salmon said 4-6 minutes, turn halfway.
Serve all the bowls with the rice apart, or assemble in the kitchen. To assemble, add rice to each plate/bowl. Put some of each topping on top or to the side in a circle. Top with the mayo and topping mix.
Notes
The mayo in this box is not gluten-free, it contains normal soy sauce which is often made with wheat. You can substitute your own sushi mayo, any other kind of mayo-based sushi-sauce or probably just gluten-free soy sauce works too.
I’ve always been taught that for protein (meat) a person needs 100 gr per day, so that what i buy. Cooking this for 3 people means 300 grams of salmon and chicken combined.
