Neris Fanfic Recs #6 &7: The Price You Pay For Power AND The Long Fall
Morning Neris Nation... I assure you, we haven't forgotten about these, it's just been a CRAZY time for all of us outside of tumblr. In penance, though, we humbly offer you two (2) selections for this week, slightly off-schedule!
First up, The Price You Pay For Power, by @nocasdatsgay. This was one of Mod Bee's first fics that she read in the Neris ship and all, it's a banger. Everyone should read it. In fact, you should go read it right now.
Here's the description:
Eris revises his bargain with Rhysand: Nesta for Autumn Healers. He agrees and Nesta is sent to Autumn under the guise as Eris’s new bride in order to assist with removing Beron for good. Now she has to navigate a new court and also decide just how much she will trust her new husband.
Tell us that's not a killer premise?! When asked for her inspiration, here's what the lovely Finnijer had to say about it:
"The inspiration came from this snippet I wrote on a whim. I just had this idea of Nesta actually saying yes to marrying Eris or being forced to and a scene in my head of what that might look like. So many people liked it and asked for more, so I started writing. It obviously has strayed from that original post when the plot developed."
Curious about the snippet, too? You can read it right here!
Now... The Long Fall, by @noyeahdefinitely. This is a newer fic from within the last few months, with a fascinating premise: what happens if Nesta fell on her hike and died? This one is chock full of fab worldbuilding, especially for the Illyrians. Just, incredible stuff.
Here's the description of the story itself:
Nesta falls off a cliff and dies while she’s on that terrible hike. There is also more of a plot, but honestly a big part of this is me getting mad yet again about the hike scene.
And here's how our fantastic author replied when asked what inspired such a work of art - she gave a short version and a long one!
Very short version: "I was inspired by both a deep hatred of the hike scene and a belief that Autumn Court has the best potential vibes."
Slightly longer version: "I was inspired by both a deep hatred of the hike scene and a belief that Autumn Court has the best potential vibes. I ended up changing the Vanserra backstory quite a bit. I love Neris stories that show Eris as someone who's politically and socially adept because he was forced to be by an abusive father. But I felt like that had already been done and done well, and I wanted to try something else."
Two works, two amazing authors, two more things to add to your TBR lists. Now get on out there, Neris Nation, and show these two authors some serious love!
