Everything I Thought I Lost Before || Daryl & Carol || @fearentities
Daryl glanced over at Carol after they'd stashed his bike just inside the Washington D.C. city limits. They'd left Alexandria only half an hour previous, and they were planning to be out for at least three days and two nights. That's when they'd told the others to expect them back. They'd volunteered to take on the task of scavenging for supplies in one of the parts of the city that hadn't been checked. So far, so good, or so he thought.
"You know you didn't have to come," he said softly, wanting her to know that even though he didn't need her to come that he was grateful that she had. "But I'm glad you're here. Right by my side. Like it used to be." He touched her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.
Anything to get him out of Alexandria. It didn't feel right to have Negan locked up in the cell with their friends being dead. They'd lost so many good people to the fight with the saviors and Negan. He was glad that most of that was over and behind them, but he still didn't like that the man would get three square meals a day and never had to work for any of it.
"Where do you want to start?" He pulled out the map, stretching it across the hood of an abandoned Ford Mustang. He pointed to a section of the map that had been marked. "This one is closest to us with the way we came in. No one's checked it in months, so there's no way to know if it's crawling with Walkers until we go." He looked up, blinking in the sunlight as he met her eyes as he waited on her input.
