*3* waiit *reads the comment about Faust didnât like sharing asra* can we please have a story to it? How lil baby faust meet the apprentice and stuff? I am oh so very curious now
Something was new, different, and Faust wasnât sure she liked it. Â Sure Asra seemed more cheerful than normal, but he was distracted. Â Way more distracted than normal.
Heâd tripped and fallen into the cave lake yesterday, grabbed the wrong set of ingredients, and now he had cooked a blue tailed skink instead of a blue tongued skink.
Asra. Â She whined, poking the skink with her tail. Â Sure it wasnât the end of the world, but blue tongued skinks tasted so much better than blue tailed skinks.
âAh, sorry Faust.â Â Asra smiled sheepishly, running a hand through his hair.
Distracted. Â She curled up his arm, poking his cheek with her tail. Â Why?
He waved a hand, face turning read. Â âItâs nothing Faust, really.â
Hmm⌠ She poked his cheek with her tail again.  Repeatedly.
Asra burst out laughing, uncoiling her from around his  neck.  âItâs nothing Faust, really, I just have a date.â
Faust froze, mouth dropping open as she stared at him. Â What?
Faust was totally not sulking, totally hadnât been sulking ever since Asra left for his date. Â She had a perfectly good reason to be tucked into the bed with the covers pulled up around her totally ignoring the world.
Stupid Asra. Â She mumbled to herself. Â Stupid date.
Below her the door slammed shut and forced herself not to perk up. Â It was just Asra, coming home from his date. Â And while she was still totally not sulking she was totally not going to greeting him like everything was normal. Â Like he wasnât trying to replace her.
âFaust are you up here?â Â Asraâs voice was followed a minute later by him flopping onto the bed next to her.
She let out an annoyed hiss, pulling the covers up over her again.
âAre you sulking Faust?â
No. Â Came her muffled reply.
âI think you are,â Asra teased, poking her through the covers.
She playfully snapped at his finger, causing him to pull it back with a laugh.
âOh come on Faust, are you jealous?â Â Asra carefully extracted her from under the covers, putting her on his chest as he flopped back onto the bed.
No. Â She stuck her tongue out at him. Â Not jealous.
He laughed, tapping her on the nose. Â âYes you are. Â Youâre acting the same way you did when I adopted the stove salamander. Â And when we fostered those baby snakes.â
Pausing, he carefully picked her up, maneuvering her so he could look her in the face. Â Which actually took a couple minutes because she kept trying to wiggle out of his grasp.
âFaust, Faust.â Â Asra couldnât help but laugh as she did her best noodle impression to try and slide out of his hands. Â âCome on Faust.â
âOh yes you are. Â Youâre jealous I had a date.â Â He laughed again as she turned to face him, bumping his nose with her.
Replace me! Â Faust glared at him, sticking her tongue out at him.
âIâm not going to replace you Faust,â he protested, trying to hide his laughter.
It was really hard for Faust to look threatening or mad when she was only a little bigger than a shoestring.
Replacing me, Faust whined, bumping his nose again.
âIâm not going to replace you,â Asra repeated, putting his back down on his chest. Â âIt was just a date Faust.â
She paused, studying him. Â She knew that look, sheâd seen it on countless customers who came in asking for readings and to know if theyâd be together forever.
Dummy. Â She slithered up to curl around his neck. Â Big dummy.
Of course whoever this person was would have to get her seal of approval. Â But anyone who could make her Asra this happy couldnât be that bad.
âDo you want to meet them Faust?â Â Asra asked with a laugh.
Faust pretended to consider it, then nodded. Â Need to make sure they deserve you.
Asra chuckled softly, running a hand over her scales. Â âAlright, alright, Iâll take you to meet them tomorrow.â
Faust totally wasnât nervous, just like she hadnât been sulking yesterday. Â She just naturally had enough energy to be almost quivering against Asraâs neck as he walked through the market. Â Why would she be nervous? Â Heck, the person Asra was dating should be nervous! Â They needed her approval in order to continue dating her Asra!
âAlright Faust, here we are.â
Already? Â She ducked her head under his scarf.
âCome on Faust, itâs just the bakerâs.â Â Asra didnât bother to hide the laughter in his voice.
Bribe me. Â Faust mumbled, not moving.
âFine, fine, we can get some bread to share too. Â After you meet them,â he said, swinging the door open.
Faust paused, then poked her head out from under the scarf. Â Dating baker?
It was Asraâs turn to pause before he started laughing. Â âNo, no, this is just where we met. Â Thought itâd be fitting for you two to meet here to.â
âThere you are Asra!â
Faust jumped at the new voice, slowly turning to look at the person.
She could totally see why Asra liked them. Â Not only were they his type (sheâd seen him mooning over a couple people over the years), but that magic.
âYou must be Faust! Â Asraâs told me all about you.â
With a huff, she let them pick her up, studying them as they studied her. Â Hi?
âWell hello to you too.â Â They laughed and she saw Asra turn red out of the corner of her eye.
Hear me? Â Only Asra and their large friend could hear her.
âYes? Â Am I not supposed to be able to hear you?â Â They cast a questioning look at Asra, who simply laughed.
âSeems like you two already like each other if youâre able to pick up on her speaking that quickly.â Â He shot a look towards Faust.
âOh wait, thatâs right!â Â They handed Faust back to Asra before rummaging in their bag. Â âI got you this!â
Faustâs eyes lit up as they handed her a skink. Â A blue tongued skink. Â Ok. Â Approved.
