Sun setting low, sky ablaze, the color of blood and smoke haze.
Mattias couldnât really remember the rest of the song. Something about the dangers of the sea yadda yadda. It felt very fitting all the same. Above him the big beautiful sky was dyed a brilliant red- what little of it peaked under the clouds. He couldnât help a giddy laugh making the bandits who had him tied up (rather shoddily) spook.Â
âWhat ya laughinâ about?â A big brute with graying hair and a little more fat than muscle snarled at him. Matty grinned, foolish and foolhardy and altogether in a good mood.
âOh you know,â he fingered the rope where it was loosely tied around his hands, testing it just slightly. Oh- this was so so so very unfortunate for them! âGot some of that lunacy.âÂ
âLuna-what?â The smaller of the three squinted at him. âThat some sorta disease?â
âDefinitely,â Mattias smiled serenely. âThe moon comes out and it makes me sorta mad. Happens when you piss off the fae-folk. They ainât very kind when we go trippinâ around the faewilds with our cock hanginâ out.â
âThey magiced your dick witâ lunacy?â The smaller asked, brow furrowed.Â
âYup!â Mattias gave a little squirm and a little breathy laugh. The sun was a ribbon of red-gold barely visible through the winter-thin trees of the forest now.Â
âWill you all quit fuckinâ around?â The middle of the three huffed, the leader but only marginally brighter. Not that Mattias has much room to speak. âItâs about time we get to work.âÂ
The light faded, only the moon filtering through breaks in the clouds.âI think youâre right,â Mattias grinned, slow and feral, eyes flashing red in the dim light. Before any of the three men could respond, the man started laughing, low crazed before the sound broke into a wicked snarl. Fast as lightning he darted forward, bonds slipping to the ground and a wolf in the place of a man ripping through the throat of the bandit leader. The other two ran off in a panic, shouting at each other to hide but it was of little use. It was the night of the hunt and the hunt lased for hours and hours until the fields were painted red and the sun rose again, barely filering through the grey of stormy clouds.Â
Mattias didnât care. He was cold, naked, tired, and tacky with blood. He laid down in the same breath that fur became skin and passed the fuck out.Â
