they're so cute, brothers of all time, I sure hope nothing bad and tragic happens to one of them!

No wait how did I not see this before omg. New brilliant idea. What if Fastbak takes an interest in Heartbeat. Like, its a passing thing, not going to go anywhere beyond friendship, but like he hears theres someone new so thats fun. And then hes like oh its someone cute! And then he finds out through the rumor mill shes supposed to have speed powers so hes like 👀👀👀 dying to meet her.

But then when he does she kind of feels sensitive and sort of inadequate bc she doesnt know how to use her powers and is doubting if she even has them at all. They have some heart to heart talks about it, she explains sometimes the speed sight thing kicks in. And hes like omg i totally get you. I actually understand that feeling of inadequacy and trying to compensate and wanting to be good enough and working at it and working at it and working at it.

And hes like ill help you! And so he tinkers for a bit and comes back with some little speedy shoes like his to try out and its kind of a disaster but it also kind of works a little bit? Like in the process even tho she totally wipes out, her speed sight does kick in and she cant necessarily move as fast as she can perceive, but she can move some, like as much as any normal person going however fast Fastbak has tuned these stupid shoes to for what he thinks a beginner would be okay with (read: way too fast still).

Um and it can go from there and their friendship grows. I think Metron probably disapproves but he isnt like out there forbidding her from interacting with people like a wicked stepmom or anything. He more judges Fastbak for not applying himself more and wasting his scientific mind.
