Imagine Loki running away to Midgard after having enough of being ridiculed for his shapeshifting.
He spends every day as a different animal, and somehow always comes across you wherever you happen to be. You have no idea that thereβs something special about the animals you come across, youβre just delighted that after cooing over and lavishing a pretty magpie in compliments, all sorts of critters go to you for pets and snuggles, and strangely enough all of them have gorgeous green eyes.
You tell these animals your secrets, worries, fears, and Loki unknowingly becomes your sole confidant. One day, when your worries overwhelm your mind, you retreat to the nearest patch of wilderness, the only place you truly feel comfortable anymore, to cry and the magpie you met so long ago alights next to you, cocking its head worriedly and tugging on the parts of your clothes it can reach questioningly while calling out to you softly. You tell it your woes, and Loki, so familiar with such feelings of helplessness, transforms back into his human form for the first time in a long time, just so he can properly hold and comfort you while you cry.
