I really like this aesthetic and i wanted to do something diffrent besides characters for once.

One problem I’ve always had with fantasy novels is that they make themselves completely separate from technology. This is kind of a result of the extensive worldbuilding Tolkien did Back In The Day, which led to a formula that most fantasy authors tend to follow, and I’m starting to see why. Because integrating technology in a world where people can use magic is daunting. And it’s not that it’s hard, but for my own purposes, I want to know how things like cellphones would work in this world. I did mention the Dragon-Net before (AKA the “DragNET”), which is sort of like an amalgamation of data that we would think of as the Internet. It exists in the minds of dragons, and the sentient races in the world have learned how to access and use it. It should be noted here that dragons to characters in The Bestiary are as mundane and as part of the landscape as we would find mountain ranges or giant forests - pretty to look at, but not something one would generally interact with. Dragons are a separate type of creature that aren’t even beholden to the gods. Much like mountain climbing in our world, some people partake in ‘dragon surfing,’ which is essentially waiting on the back of a dragon until it takes off and flies somewhere. The human or elf or faun or whatever riding on its back is less than a flea to said dragon, so they aren’t particularly offended. Also, fauns don’t bite when they hold onto your scales, so… bonus. In any case, aside from powering these devices, which is a different kettle of fish I have to tackle, things like cell phones and tablets do exist in the Bestiary world. They’re called ‘terminals’ since all their content in based on “Dragon storage” and can be recalled from any point in the world. Local storage (hard drives and the like) do exist, but it’s much more convenient for these small devices to carry everything with you “on the wing,” as they say. (Our equivalent would be “in the cloud.”) Rectangular and square terminals are most common, but races that prefer more aesthetically-pleasing things like their terminals to be round or oval. Mostly, this applies to elves.
