Tips and tricks for the Command spell!
Things to keep in mind:
It has to be only one word
The action the victim takes cannot directly and obviously lead to their harm
The language doesn’t matter
You don’t always need to produce an outward effect for it to be useful.
Examples of things you CANNOT do with it:
Command a flying creature to grovel so they stop flying and fall out of the sky. That’s directly harmful, fall damage is obvious.
Command someone to eat an entire family sized chicken pot pie. Apparently that classifies as obviously harmful.
Command someone to hurt themselves, even if they’re into it. The bard told me that one after a night with a hag, a succubus, and a balor.
Command someone to do something that harms their mental health. Command Misery doesn’t do much beyond a brief moment of sadness. Command Doubt works better for the long term.
Examples of things you CAN do with Command:
Command Confident works, so does Command Smart, but they only become what they think is smart. Basically makes a barbarian understand algebra for about 6 seconds.
Using a command in a language they don’t know is kind of a wildcard. If the word sounds too similar to a word in a language they know, they’ll misunderstand and do the latter. Additionally, if the translation of that word becomes multiple words in the language they do know, it also won’t work. Otherwise it works as intended, but it’s kind of a minefield, so using a known language is the safest.
Additionally, if the word you use is one they don’t know the meaning to, they will also misunderstand and use the closest word they do know. Had a cleric use Command Defenestrate on an ogre with his buddy next to the window. The ogre shat himself instead.
You can completely ruin someone’s life with this spell if you use it on the right people the wrong way. A sorcerer I knew subtle spelled Command Creampie on the court jester, who was holding a cream pie, cause he wanted him to throw it at a noble he didn’t like. It uh… it didn’t exactly go as planned…
Command Understand also works wonders when explaining complicated shit.
Command Agony works too, surprisingly. Something about the pain being placebo and not real.
Command Forget is also pretty good if done right.
Cleric I know used Command Confess at his temple. Worked on his enemies too. Got some thugs turning on each other over finding out who ate their lunch.

Getting there with new art for Spil, my goblin artificer.
[The Artificer listens, intrigued by his explanation. She herself has met many a Logan, but this one is the first she’s encountered that went through with the impulsive thoughts of his own volition. Seems she’ll have to push him farther, get an idea of these “less friendly” tactics he raves about-]
…! You wish to know what I am? Mhm, what am I? Perhaps I am a woman, mayhaps a machine? It has been ages since I pondered such a query! So, I shall tell you that which I am sure of, Logic.
[Swiftly, The Artificer rolled across the flooring to look Logan in the eyes. She dwarfed him easily, her automaton easily reaching above seven feet. Without a word, the mist that orbited her frame poured into every nook and cranny of Logan’s room. His lights flickered, technology bursting to life with the sudden hum of energy.]
I am The Artificer, though those I am found of take to calling me Arty. My adoration of entropy is endless, as is my need for stimulus. And you, Logic, are my curiosity of choice!
[Logan waves his hand and his technology turns off, apparently being a dark side has made him a technopath, who knows how that works]
Interesting, your form is impressive Artificer. And I suppose I’m flattered. But why me?
Oh? Is that so, Logos? I am more than capable of keeping your secrets, if that is the source of your hesitation!
[The Artificer laughed. Her voice reverberated off the walls, piercing through his bones and ringing in his head. It was everywhere and nowhere simultaneously, distortion and tone dancing around each other, warbling in and out of existence as they pleased. The laugh was infectious, and he felt the urge well up in himself to laugh alongside her.]
”A change of strategy?” You truly haven’t changed an angstrom, in spite of your newfound fangs. Aren’t you a peculiar little embodiment. Oh, oh, entertain my curiosity, if only for a moment! Have you simply lost tolerance for the vapid light’s ignorance, or did the voice in your ear strike up a deal simply could not refuse?
{yea she a lil crazy}-The Artificer
Again, it was a change in strategy. I decided not to redeem myself after a disagreement and instead attempt to use… less friendly tactics to make my points. If that’s made me a dark side, so be it, it’s not as if that term means anything more than whatever Roman made it up to be, but I’m not against describing myself with it.
Why don’t I ask you a question now. Who are you? Or what are you?
