I’m not op but I get them, the issue isn’t any ones headcanon (which they said) it’s people ignoring the whole narrative and telling everyone that it’s CANON! I’ve seen it in fandoms where the whole narrative is about someone accepting that they might be different from the norm but it’s ok to be [gender] while being different. And the fandom decides that they’re trans after the whole arc of accepting themselves and fights anyone who disagrees.

The people policing others headcanons are as crazy as the people policing people saying what OP said. The problem isn’t headcanon, it’s assuming your headcanon is canon and fighting uninvolved people by drawing/writing characters with their canon gender.

Hey um. It doesnt matter? It's a fun headcanon people make up because its fun. Thats why people make canonically male characters transfem. Do you understand thats how headcanons work. Like sometimes they go against canon? Why are you so bewildered and angry. No ones making you call them she/her. Calling it "a whole ass new extreme" and "borderline insane" is fucking hilarious though . Have you ever tried going outside and talking to people. It might do you wonders.

I think its fine to have headcanons so long as you acknowledge that it's a headcanon. But also, sometimes, I feel like those gender headcanons miss intent behind characters. Some people take feminine men and label them as trans masc, and while I think that's fine, the intent was just to have a man embrace femininity and break the stereotype. Sometimes, changing the gender, or making them trans, takes away from the intent and changes how the author wanted to represent that character.

Idk i think people can do what they want but that also means i can feel a little odd about it

Buddy (gender neutral), you have NO idea how insane people can get. I have seen people trying to force their trans headcanon on people and trying to force the fandom to adapt to new pronouns for a character and calling them transphobic if they didn't.

Can people in the Ensemble Stars fandom please fucking stop with giving obvious male identifying characters “she/her” pronouns just because they “HC that they are she/her and therefore it’s correct UwU” because it’s fucking ridiculous.

I’m sick and tired of having to “correct” myself. It’s so annoying- why can’t people just follow canon and keep the proper pronouns of the characters?! Is it that hard?! I get having a HC but this has become a whole ass new extreme- like… this is borderline insane!!!

Its really shitty when people try to force their headcannons on you and everyone else. I agree that you shouldnt have to "correct" yourself. However I think some vital info is missing. where are you having to "correct" yourself? On your own posts and blog? Or on someone else's?

For the other half... People dont have to follow canon. Yes its shitty behaviour to assume and expect others to go along with your headcanons in fandom spaces in general, but if you are on THEIR blog and they have asked people not to use the canon pronouns when interacting with THEIR blog and you do so anyway then you are the asshole here.

They cant tell you what to do on your blog and you cant tell them what to do on theirs.

Despite all this, personally I don't like gender headcanons either. People do get really annoying about it lol. Most of the time it doesnt even feel like they actually believe it fits with the character, its all about aesthetics and being quirky and such. Same goes with a lot of extreme headcanons. At some point you gotta ask yourself if you even liked the original character at all and if what you really wanted was an OC. People really are just so uncreative and lazy that they will just take a pre-existing character and shape it to how they want while keeping the name so they can get the attention of fandom since trying to gain attention for original work is hard. All while trying to convince people they are just trying to be progressive.

It leaves a bad taste in your mouth for sure.
