Wow. OK. Liam Jones is so ENTJ it’s ridiculous. Just this bit about ENTJs as parents:
ENTJs are always up for a challenge, and will take their roles as parents seriously and with the utmost sense of personal responsibility. Holding themselves to a higher standard than most, ENTJ personalities see the success of their children as a reflection of those personal standards, and want nothing more than to see them grow into smart, independent people who strive to achieve their goals.
“Come on, Killian. The harder we work, the sooner we're finished.”
“If you served an honorable king, it would change you. You could be a fine captain someday. I know it.”
But while gladly having rational, well-thought-out discussions about roles and responsibilities, at the end of the day ENTJs expect their authority to be respected. A disagreement is no excuse for shirking established responsibilities, and ENTJ parents can be utterly uncompromising in maintaining this structure.
“What do you know of any of this? I'm your brother and your captain. You will listen to me.”
When these debates devolve into emotional appeals is when ENTJ parents run into real trouble
“You choose to believe that boy over our king?”
“That boy... showed us the path to dreamshade. Why would he lie about its nature?”
(But literally, the entire conversation before Liam tests out the dreamshade. Liam is appealing to the idea of their responsibilities as loyal officers to the King, Killian is appealing to a more emotional argument of gut feelings and general ethical questions)
ENTJ parents should remember that a part of developing that necessary sense of independence is being able to control one's own schedule and activities, to chart one's own course, at least to a certain extent.
And this was the whole lesson of 5.15, wasn’t it? That Liam kept this rigid bar in place thinking it was the best way to get Killian to live up to his potential, but it created this kind of emotional dependency in Killian to constantly live his life by the standards that someone else had set.
I still have a bit of difficulty with pinning down Killian’s type (he often gets ESTP, but I feel like that favours his Hook bravado rather than the character we’ve seen emerge over the seasons) , but I had a gut instinct about Liam being an ENTJ, and I’m pretty convinced of it after reading a bit more.
