Tumblr is my beta and Drabble archive for now. Hopefully, I can eventually get some-more things written to post on Ao3.
Liam grumbled in annoyance as he reached the deck. “Alys what are you doing? Go back to bed!” Liam whispered-shouted to his sister.
“I’m playing with shadow.” Alys giggled moving to the current lantern the shadow inhibited. “And shadows friend.”
“Friend?” Liam's heart dropped, he swiftly put himself in front of his sister.
“Yeah. Shadow won’t hurt you. He just likes to play.” Alys' smile quickly faded as her brother grabbed her hand.
“She’s right, the shadow won’t hurt you. Unless I tell him too.” Peter finally made his presence known once the siblings started agruing.
“Are you-?” Liam’s eyes began to widened, but he looked puzzled.
“Peter Pan.” A grin appeared across his face, curious of what the pirate had said about him. “I’m sure your father has warned you about me.”
Liam nodded, “He said you were a demon, but you just look like a boy. The six year old figured his father now meant he was just “bad” like the crocodile. “He said you take boys away from their family and bring them to Neverland, and never let them go home.”
“Your father lied, Liam.” Pan explained how boys chose to come to Neverland, how boys who listen and follow his rules are allowed to go home if they wish. He studied Liam's as he spoke. He could see the spark of curiosity in the boy, when he started telling him the more exciting details. “You can bring your sister if you’d like.”
Liam glanced at the deck boards under his boots. He thought about his father briefly, but decided he’d eventually return to the Jolly Roger. All he had to do was follow Peter’s rules, and with that he agreed to the offer. “Do you have a boat? Is that how we go?”
Pan shook his head, “You don’t need a boat. When you can fly.”
Liam felt his heart dropped at the idea, however he quickly doubted flying as option.“No we can’t.”
His little sister of course had the opposite reaction. “We can!? How? Can you fly?” Alys eagerly had a million more questions she’d done her best remaining quiet during their conversation.
“My shadow can fly. He can take you both to Neverland.” Pan smiled, on que the shadow attempted to pick up Alys. Except the shadow couldn’t pick her up, leaving Peter in pure bewilderment.
Alys was beaming until nothing was happening. “I don’t think the shadow likes me.”
“You have magic…Can’t you make a boat appear?” Liam was relieved the shadow couldn’t pick up Alys. He'd rather not do any flying. Knowing if the shadow dropped him he’d drowned.
“I could, but I won’t. You don’t have to worry he won’t drop you.” Pan could sense Liam’s fear and hesitation. After many years, he’s learned boys who initially fear him tend to be the loyalist of followers.
“Fine.” Liam’s heart practically was in his throat as he nodded. His eyes shut upon seeing his boots hover over the deck of the Jolly Roger.
Peter gave the shadow a quick nod watching the shadow soar into the night sky. He listened for a moment for laughs, cries, screams nothing. All he could hear were the creaks and moans of the ship. He picked up the girl putting her on his hip, “Are ready to go little bird?”
Alys scrunched up her face and shook her head, “I’m not a bird. Birds can fly I can’t.”
NOTE: Grammar isn’t a strong suit of mine. I apologize. Pacing and what information readers need is something I’m finding I’m struggling with, however some dynamics with characters I’m still finding out myself.
I’m thinking about writing them flying to island, but I really think that’s a strong ending. Please feel to comment, ask questions, leave ideas ect! Thanks for the read!
