Can conventions PLEASE stop using generative ai to design their logos? This trend is slowly starting to worry me - rangerstop, fanaticcon, some of the small anime "cons" near me they're all using gen ai for their logos, HELL BARBIE DREAM FEST OF ALL THINGS DECIDED TO HIRE REAL ARTISTS FOR THEIR LOGO! (even though they got caught using it for some of their promotional videos but I digress 👀) ðŸ˜
Like ah yes we spent thousands to rent out a convention space for a medium heavily focused on art and self expression LET'S USE SOMETHING THAT STEALS FROM ARTISTS, GOES AGAINST THE WHOLE POINT OF FANDOM AND CAUSES A NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT!
like no sorry if you can afford like a couple thousand/couple hundered thousand to rent the place out, hire and accommodate the special guests, hire security, pay for the lanyards, organise catering and so on and so forth YOU CAN SPEND LIKE 5 - 10 BUCKS ON A LOCAL ARTIST IN THE AREA TO DESIGN A BASIC LOGO FOR YOU - hell even if you can't afford that for whatever reason I'd rather have you shortchange/not pay the artist instead of using ai ðŸ˜
