A Day on the Loop
Our low got down to 34 last night and made it to 59 before the end of the day. There were clouds in the morning, but the sun finally peeked out around noon for a couple of hours.
This morning’s blood sugar was up a bit much, to 175. This was no doubt due to the snacky dinner we had last night and too many cashews again afterwards.
We enjoyed our coffee and brain games. This was the last time playing “On the Record” from the WaPo collection of games. We might have another day or two of “Keyword.”
While I was busy with competing stuff, Nancy started fixing our oatmeal for breakfast. After cleaning up, we showered and dressed. Then we engaged in time-wasting efforts until lunch, when we had sandwiches and potato chips.
Just about 12:30 p.m., we headed out to Marcola, to Nancy’s daughter’s place, where we spent time talking with Kalen and Kurt and playing with the new puppy, who has now officially been named Kali. A little bit later, Kyle and Seran came over from their place next door with Sophie. So we got baby-time in addition to puppy-time.
Then Kyle and Seran took us over to show off their gardening plans for the spring. After which the whole crew went for a walk down the street to the ranch. Kalen checked on her bees, which have successfully survived the winter. Then we wandered back to the dome and Kyle and Seran and Sophie took off to take one of their cats to the vet for a check-up.
Nancy and I came home not long after and took a nap. While I was still getting up, Nancy prepared some veggies to go into the oven for roasting. When they were done, we heated up the leftover tamarind chicken and rice from the other day and had dinner.
Before diving into our streaming for the evening, we both read a little bit. I finished the fourth novel in Lee Goldberg’s Eve Ronin series, “Movie Land.” There are still plenty of digital books in my collection to spend my time on without spending any more money.
Then we watched Colbert’s Thursday night show, with guests Sterling K. Brown, who stars in the brand new series “Paradise,” about a Secret Service agent who investigates the murder of a former president in a seemingly peaceful community. It’s available on Hulu, and it’s gotten excellent reviews, so we might take a chance on it. We also caught up on the latest episodes of “Elsbeth” and “Matlock” before heading off to bed.
Tonight will get cold again, with a low around 37 degrees, and the high tomorrow might reach 61. It appears that the day will be cloudy, but there is no rain in the forecast. That does not mean, of course, that none will fall. We will simply keep our fingers crossed.
