portraits of butches of color pt 2. via butchisnotadirtyword
Trans people of color!!! Do not let the culture around you stop you from choosing a name that speaks to your heritage. When I was settling on my name, I had white trans people around me tell me that my name would be too hard to pronounce or too long for most people. [Four syllable Latin name, go figure]
I'm glad I didn't listen and decided to stay true to myself and I chose a traditionally Afro-Brazilian that still makes me happy to this day. Don't feel pressured to assimilate or make yourself more palpable for white people, little reminder!
i love my black trans siblings, i love my indigenous trans siblings, i love my latine trans siblings, i love my arab trans siblings, i love my asian trans siblings, i love all of my trans siblings of color. yall are so important to our community <3
trans poc, please i beg of you get transition inspo of people with your ethnicity
i was incredibly dysphoric about my round face and softer features until i started looking at the faces of hispanic men and realized that those features werenβt feminine at all, they were ethnic features white supremacy had conditioned me to see as less masculine
your ethnic features are beautiful, and you do not need to look european to look masculine or feminine

people need to be less weird towards butch transfems, intersex transfems, masculine transfems, gnc transfems, transfems who dont ID as women, transfems with short hair, transfems who want to have (or keep) their muscles, transfems who want to have (or keep) their beard, transfems who want to be (or stay) hairy, transfems who dont (or can't) constantly smile/act soft, and any other thing people keep being weird about.
oh and stop being weird to transfems of colour with ANY presentation or label, full stop. stop forcing white femininity onto us. stop forcing white american standards onto us.
brought to you by a gnc, intersex transfem of colour, who's covered in hair and loves it!! i like to be both butch and femme but anything i do as a transfem come with such high expectations
