"I CAN'T BREATHE"
by Giovannie "Just"
“Like most young black kids, I thought my only way to success was to be an athlete or an entertainer of some sort. . . . At almost 30 years old, I finally found my calling.” —Giovannie "Just"
Street art newcomer Giovannie "Just" is on a mission: "Saving the world one mural at a time." Jamaican-American Giovannie grew up in Los Angeles but started painting walls part-time in Phoenix in 2018. Already concerned over the amount of black art on walls, the events of 2020 led Giovannie to commit to art full-time and his visual narratives of the black experience have gained national attention. Back in Los Angeles Giovannie responded to the death of George Floyd with this stunning mural in the @MegZany curated Fame Yard on Melrose Ave. @justcreatedit/
