The awkwardness, Urie decides, is Sasaki’s fault. This is a decision he arrives at based on the following logic: the rest of the squad is missing ( Mutsuki and Shirazu ) or asleep ( Yonebayashi ), and every other morning when Urie heads out to HQ at this same time on his own, it’s perfectly pleasant. The variable that has changed is Sasaki.
He pretends to be unaffected as he opens the passenger side of the company car and climbs in, already looking at the window at the street instead of his mentor by the time he closes the door and fumbles for his seatbelt.
