Concept...
All of the Sides are well-known famous creators for their own individual talents. Virgil is an artist who loves drawing horror and depicting disturbing imagery in his content, Logan is a novelist who writes in several different genres, Remus is a famous comedian who dabbles in dark humor, Deceit is a philosophy Youtuber and doubles as a death metal vocalist that writes his own lyrics, Patton sculps, and Roman is a famous singer.
Roman recently dropped his new album and his fans absolutely adore it. Though Roman is always insecure about his music and despite the overwhelmingly positive response, there’s always that little voice at the back of his head telling him he’s not good enough. Everyone is super proud of him though and throw a little family party for him to celebrate another streak of success. Patton voices his support as well...that totally isn’t sarcastic and trying to amplify Roman’s insecurities.
“Great job, kiddo! I was honestly shocked you were received so positively for the fifth time in a row!”, He beams, “Your music is always so exaggerative and glittery! I was almost certain your fans would notice the repetitive style! Oh, well. Count your blessings, I guess! Who knows when the hype will wear off, haha.”
“Gee, isn’t it weird your fans are so loyal? I wonder sometimes if they’re just listening because they feel sorry for you or have nothing else. But of course, that’s silly! They’re all so sweet!”
“I’m surprised you never second-guess your lyrics, Roman. You work so fast, after all! Oh, well. You’ve been at this long enough. You clearly know what you’re doing!~”
“It’s so great none of your friends circle around you because of your fame. It’s nice to know that if you’d ever become irrelevant, they wouldn’t drop you for the next big thing. That’s true friendship! You’re lucky, Ro!~”
Disability doesn't come with extra time and energy
I've heard a lot of advocates of inclusion say things like "kids with disabilities work twice as hard as everyone else" or "my employees with Down's syndrome never come in late or take a day off." This sounds like praise, but it isn't. The time disabled people spend working twice as hard as everyone else has to come from somewhere. There are reasons why kids aren't in school every waking moment. There is a reason why vacation time exists and why it's normal to be late occasionally. People need rest. People need leisure time. People have lives and needs and can't do everything. Being disabled doesn't erase the need for down time. Being disabled doesn't erase the need for play, or for connections to other people. Working twice as hard as everyone else all the time isn't sustainable. Praising disabled people for doing unsustainable things is profoundly destructive. People with disabilities should not have to give up on rest, recreation, and relationships in order to be valued. We have limited time and energy just like everyone else, and our limitations need to be respected. It is not right to expect us to run ourselves into the ground pretending to be normal. We have the right to exist in the world as we really are.

Anonymity, as it’s practiced... is vital to our citizenship.

Anonymity, on the other hand, is more like hanging out in a city, going to a bar, or participating in a protest. It’s a different kind of freedom. People know what you’re doing but not who you are. Anonymity is important because we need spaces to engage with other people while withholding our identity. If I were my co-worker, I’d rather be anonymous too, than be the unctuous one complimented by fulsome praise(s), such as said of the lay-about :”In my opinion you will be very fortunate to get this person to work for you.” Or of the terminally incompetent candidate:” I am sure whatever task he undertakes, no matter how small, he will be fired with enthusiasm.” Of the liar:” Even though his work record was only average, his true ability was deceiving.”
Honest Smonest....
I love how other people are getting acknowledgement and patted on the po~po for being honest…I never have. I guess I don’t know how to make mine pretty for the masses to hear like most people…I am simply honest.
Which is something I really don’t think people need to be getting congratulated for in the first place…really…I suppose when you come from abuse, trauma or persecution then saying things…
