-Documenting the changing environments on this unique hike up Mt Mansfield in VT. A few factors contributed to why this was probably the most dangerous hike I've ever done. The main reason being, we were two ill-equipped amateur climbers. The majority of this steep trail follows the waterfall up the slippery rock and eventually lead to black ice. Normal boots and running shoes don't quite cut it. Despite taking it slow, slips and falls were inevitable. As predicted, temperatures dropped as we neared the top; covered in snow and ice that faded into the white background of fog. I used an extra pair of socks as mittens for my numb hands. Because we started so late, we had an hour to make it down before sunset (which was impossible). So, the remainder of the hike was done in the dark, where any attempt to stay dry was futile. In some cases, sliding on the butt was necessary and/or unintentional. This may be a nightmare for most, but this is what I call fun. "I'm glad we came during such unfavorable conditions...makes it more exciting," states Harry. Today my friends went to the ice cream place. They sent me a list of options so they could bring me some at work. There was a flavor made up of pumpkin, mint, chocolate chip, and possibly some other flavors. Me deciding to be daring asked for that one. I have to say. It is weird but totally good, and I am presently sitting at my desk at work eating it with a fork because we have no spoons.
