It makes sense, especially in how carefully Clark covers that he's Superman. Think about it, if he were a poc in Kansas, it would suddenly make it a lot more important than no one knows who his friends and family are.
It does! Furthermore, Krypton uses a lot of Hebrew, Kal-El literally means ‘voice of G-d’ and while I don’t think they could have made Clark a poc when they first made him, they can change that now.
