Dark Forest voices
Here comes another interesting headcanon! What if everyone in the Dark Forest had their own, deeply disturbing sound when they talked?
Alderstar--his regular voice, mixed with the fading-echo like sound cats hear when their life drains away and the world around them becomes blurred.
Bonus: his voice claim is Arthur from BBC’s Merlin (newer seasons for older--aka current--age).
-
Angelpaw--his normal voice (a monotone and unexpectedly deep voice), underlaid with the yowls and hisses of his now dead father.
-
Avery--his regular voice, with the dull clang of a live-trap door closing.
-
Batear--his regular voice, along with the screech of bars in the night.
-
Birchflight--their voice + the sound of a BMX bike's wheels scraping on gravel.
-
Bluedaisy--regular voice along with the rushing sound of air as you fall.
-
Claudrat--his regular voice, overlaid with soft whispers that give the feeling of different messages, to not trust him, to follow him, and rarely, of how much fun they will have.
-
Darkbrush--their regular voice (an annoying British-tinged voice), the squawk of fresh-kill travels beside it.
-
Emberdawn--Her regular voice, with the rush of a river during a heavy, dangerous storm.
Bonus: Her voice claim is Effy (is that how you spell it?) from Murdoch Mysteries (newer seasons for older--aka current--age).
-
Fallenfire--her regular voice, mixed with the hoarse rasp of a dying cat.
-
Ferndoe--her regular voice, mixed with the tune of a low, painful wail.
Bonus: her voice claim is Olivia from Haunting of Hill House.
-
Foxfire-- his normal voice mixed with the bubbling of water streaming into a sewer.
-
Froglight--his voice mixed with a growling squeak.
-
Gorseheart--his regular voice along with the sound of skin ripping in the heat of battle.
Bonus: his voice claim is George from Murdoch Mysteries (newer seasons for older--aka current--age).
-
Grousemane--his normal voice. That’s it, because he came from Starclan.
Bonus: his voice claim is Gwaine from BBC’s Merlin (newer seasons for older--aka current--age).
-
Hootpetal--her normal voice, with a touch of splintering teeth, the cracking bone along with the trinkling blood of the nerve.
Bonus: her voice claim is Gwen from BBC’s Merlin (newer seasons for older--aka current--age).
-
Jackdawfoot--his normal voice, mixed with the thump of a Twoleg on a small Thunderpath (sidewalk).
-
Kindlepaw--regular voice, mixed with the crackling of flames too close.
-
Loonfur--her regular voice, mixed with the sound of blood roaring in your ears when your heart races and you feel afraid.
-
Milkdud--their regular voice (higher pitched but demanding tone), the drips of blood upon leaves lurks beneath it
-
Myrtlewing--his normal voice, mixed with the disorienting sounds when caught between wakefulness and sleep, nightmares spilling into real life.
Bonus: his voice claim is Merlin from BBC’s Merlin (newer seasons for older--aka current--age).
-
Perchclaw-- his normal voice, with the warning hiss of an adder about to strike.
-
Pigeonfang--his normal voice in addition to the growling of a stomach that hasn't felt food in many moons.
-
Poppyhill--her regular voice mixed with the sound of a low whistle on the moor during a cold, windy night.
Bonus: her voice claim is Poppy Hill from Haunting of Hill House.
-
Riverrush--his regular voice (a playful and upbeat tone), mixed with the sound of a dangerous river, rushing water certain to drown an unfortunate soul.
-
Rosefrost--her regular voice, mixed with the ominous shattering of ice just before a cat falls into icy water.
-
Sharkstar--his regular voice, mixed with the rumbling thunder of a storm that would make kits wail.
-
Skullmoon--their regular voice, along with the crackling of mouse bones under one’s foot.
-
Snailstar--regular voice + the sound of sand trickling out of an open paw
-
Snipvoice--their regular voice, along with the sound of footsteps crunching along the snow, alternating between walking and running.
-
Snowwing--his regular voice, with the sound of a paws following in the undergrowth, heard but unseen.
-
Stickpaw--regular voice, only strained and tired, along with a screeching when loud noises are made.
-
Stonefern--his normal voice, mixed with the distant barking of angry dogs.
-
Treatpaw--her regular voice (a small yet friendly voice that can quickly turn horrifying), tainted by her sister’s dying yowls
-
Trickpaw--her regular voice (a large and boisterous voice that can be sweet as catmint), the dying sobs and cries of her sister can be heard alongside it.
-
Webstripe--his normal voice mixed with the sound of waves getting stirred up by a boat.
-
Whispkit--their regular voice (whispery and quiet voice, everchanging), the wails of other kits speak beneath it, speaking of debts unpaid.
======================
In addition, it’s possible that the longer one is a resident for, the more their voice resembles the sounds over how they actually sounded in life. It’s very gradual, so much so that it is very hard to notice.
-------------------------------
It’s something the Dark Forest cast would become used to, but would absolutely frighten anyone else. The fading echo of Alder’s voice might even disorient them!
Btw Jackdaw killed kittypets, which is why his voice resembles that.
Myrtle’s was inspired by a time I was having a nightmare while half-awake, which made it feel more real and WAY more frightening than a normal nightmare. I of course had to give it to my favourite boy.

Character’s Dens:
Myrtlewing, Grousemane, Alderstar, Hootpetal + their kits:
Eye-Out Thorns --> cluster of bramble and briar bushes with long, sharp thorns. Yes, they do sleep within these branches. Myrtlewing and Alderstar in particular like to sleep in the most dense area. Not for protection, they just like it for some reason. In the centre is a more open space, wide enough to fun around.
Jackdawfoot and Ferndoe:
Large tree in one of the Lush Trees. The den is a hole at the bottom big enough to comfortably fit them both, even through Jackdaw’s large size. Close to where new residences most often appear, as Ferndoe likes to greet them.
Rosefrost, Loonfur, Fallenfire + their kits
A deep cave within one of the Gaping Maws areas, surrounded by sharp rocks. Loonfur enjoys sleeping in complete darkness.
Snowwing and Motheyes + their kits:
Snowwing previously lived with his mother, Rosefrost, and her mates, but has moved out a couple moons before meeting Motheyes. He lives in the same cave system, only further away and more privately.
Falleniris and Blackfinch + their kits:
Both liked how they lived (Fallen at the thorns, Black at the caves), so they put the environments together--now they live in a cave (different one, Black's family still occupies the original) and filled it with thorns. The thorns' placement seem random, but are in fact like a maze. It is easy for the unfamiliar to get lost in, never finding their way out. In a sense, they are 'devoured' by the cave, hence the name.
Their cave system is called the Devouring Cave.
Basiltooth and Smalljump:
Not so much of a den as an open space. They are surrounded by what they refer to as the ‘Glow-ring,’ which is a ring of glowing mushrooms that allow them to see potential threats nearing. Light can also be soothing.
Gorseheart, Emberdawn, Foxfire, Birchflight + their kits:
Tunnel system. Includes separate ‘dens’ in case privacy is wanted. The kits cannot adventure it on their own, as although smaller than other tunnel systems, it can be a maze (which is good so that invaders cannot find their way around very well). Tunnel sizes have been adjusted due to Emberdawn’s tall size. They can walk comfortably at their full height. The main den can fit all of them, with room to play.
Fulvouspine and Mallardgleam + their kits:
Sleep on a reed bed woven into the bank. It stretches out onto the water, where they spend most of their time swimming.
Hillminnow, Blackdawn + their kit:
A reed den on the bank next to water.
Fennelbur and Sablefleck + their kits:
A pine tree on The Brumal, close enough for the tree to hold snow but not so far in that it’s always freezing. Bottom branches are long and convex, providing decent privacy.
Sparktail and Doesong + their kits:
A (totally not suspiciously) burnt bush nearby the glow ring that Sparktail fashioned into a little hut. It's not Super big but you can stand in it.
Ferntuft:
A hole in the ground near The Brumal (keeps his rot from aching without making him too cold) and put a bunch of very sharp sticks around so maybe people will leave him the fuck alone.
Jaggedbriar:
Wide branches on a willow tree.
Mantisstar:
Haunts The Sward
=============
To clear up potential confusion, yes those stated to live in these areas do live in these areas together, and all of the above are mates / mates and their family

Cautionary Tale: N/A
Story:
Skyclan had faced a horrible bout of greencough. Speckfire was one of few warriors not in the medicine den, and when it came time for a gathering, their leader saw no way across lying, and admitted that the Clan needed help. Only Thunderclan offered it.
During a solo patrol, Speckfire overheard two Shadowclan warriors, one the deputy, discussing Skyclan’s weakness and how they could take advantage of it.
Speckfire was distraught. Their Clanmates were already weak and suffering, two had died (three including one of Featherstar’s lives). The Clan could not put up with this!
They reported it to their leader, but what action could be taken other than prepare for the worst? How could the Clan be protected with so few cats able to fight? Applefinch had one-moon old kits, for Starclan’s sake!
Speckfire did it out of love, out of the need to protect their Clan. The first time wasn’t planned, either. They were on a patrol, solo again, since there were still so few cats able to perform duties, and Featherstar wanted more back in camp to guard.
Two Shadowclan apprentices had snuck into the territory, whispering loudly about how they should steal, since no one would be around to catch them.
Overcome with rage, Speckfire pounced, snapping one of their necks like prey, then attacked the other before they could get too far.
Shocked with themself, they carried the two over the border. What had Speckfire done? Now Shadowclan would surely attack.
They would have told Featherstar if they weren’t so disturbed and numb. When they awoke the next morning, no declaration of war had been made. Dew wafted into their nose.. it had rained last night!
After more time waiting, their thoughts were confirmed. Speckfire’s scent had completely washed away. Did that mean Starclan was on their side?
Their guilt eased, but still clung. No war came. From what they heard at gatherings, the Shadowclan leader decided that they didn’t need more grief.
Speckfire had protected their Clan!
But it always stuck with them, a constant lump in their heart, a nag in their mind.
Once again, two apprentices, Thunderclan this time, snuck into Skyclan territory after Skyclan announced a prey-shortage. What did they hope to gain in a territory with so little food? Did they wish to take away even the smallest morsels from Skyclan?
Maybe repreated history meant.... well, to repeat history. So Speckfire did, snapping one neck after another, and leaving them on the border.
They found out later that a fox had been sighted in Thunderclan territory, passing through where Speckfire left the two, possibly having a nibble too. Whatever the creature did, it hid their scent.
But even with the belief that Starclan was on their side, the guilt weighed them down, harsher when they saw the grieving parents.
Then a dream. A Starclan cat came to them, said how Speckfire was wrong to do what they did, that it wasn’t the way to protect the Clans. So Speckfire didn’t have Starclan on their side. Sparkfire killed innocent apprentices.
Although still relatively young, they announced their wish to become an elder, and how they wished to be named Fallenfire.
They remained in the elder’s den until their death, growing cataracts, and forever repeating the names of the four lives in which they took. Silverpaw, Birchpaw, Ravenpaw, Whitepaw.
Additional Information:
-- Order of deaths: Ravenpaw, Silverpaw, Whitepaw, Birchpaw
--Whitepaw and Birchpaw are littermates, Ravenpaw and Silverpaw are friends
--Ravenpaw didn’t really want to come along, but Silverpaw made him.
--Fallenfire has claw marks across their lips, in case it’s hard to see!
--Fallenfire didn’t want to bury them because they didn’t want to hide their crime. If they weren’t caught, it would only be because Starclan chose to protect the secret (and in actuality it turned out to be luck).
Comments? Questions? Ask!
I feel like Fallenfire (might be someone else, but so far I’m going with her) would flirt with Loonfur, unaware she was with Rosefrost, and Rosefrost would come seconds close to beating her up when they see Grousemane, Myrtlewing, Alderstar, and Hootpetal and think “oh yeah let’s do that”
